We have been impressed with the improvements of service food drinks since hilton has taken over. We have stayed in the adults only premium part. A special thanks to angel and edward for the service provided!!!
Over all a really good holiday
Amazing beach and pools. Hilton just refurbished the adult part of the hotel and it turned out well except for some issues which I seen others already commented. Very friendly staff who does their best. The backup doesn't always seem to work though. And not having a business center at a resort of this size is quite amazing. Premium club lounge serves brand spirits (most of the time since they always run out of them) and light breakfast and then snacks during the day and evening. Only downside is they don't have a proper expresso machine. And that the staff sometimes talk more amongst themselves than attending guests. Lounge is also to small for all the premium rooms they sell. Coffee shop in the main lobby is open 24/7 and serves very good coffee and pastry. Rooms Very good but they don't seems to have a check list for the cleaning. Towels seems to be missed regularly. And it looks like they got a larger issue. Linnen supply is too small. Every time I asked for a hand towel for example, I got told "we are waiting for them from the laundry". And there could be a comfy chair in such a expensive room. Sunbeds both at the pools and beach: That some people reserve sunbeds by putting out towels is an abomination. Putting out the towels (and a bottle of water maybe) before 7am and they come out at 10-11am (if at all!) to use the sunbeds. The hotel should go down hard on this . Remove the towles immediately if people don't use them straight away!! And there is a need for more parasols by the pools! Beach rest Chinola, or Bones as we called it, served a nice goat stew but the meat was replaced by goat bones. Hence the name. Buffet restaurant and seafood restaurant: very poor service. Food alright. Noor: Changed their menu every night between french, italian and mediterranean. Stressed service and sometimes a long time waiting to get a table since all the restaurants in the family area of the hotel are closed for the big refurbishment. Good food except the starter sallads which comes directly from the fridge since they been prepped earlier. Also serves cold red wine sometimes since they but the bottles in the same ice bucket as the white. Umbrellas should be in every building for the guests use. Several other Hilton hotels have racks at the exits from each building where the guests helps themselves when needed. WiFi works good all over the resort. Premium pool bar main staff Johnny Bernice Junior makes all they can to give you a great holiday! My room with a "partly ocean view" had some problems which the Premium consigners, Vanessa and several others, tried to fix. One was my shower. The rain shower only worked if you had the shower on full blast and that meant scolding hot water. If you tried to get a normal temperature it turned back to the handheld shower. They sent people over time after another. 3 fays before I was leaving they offered me another room. Too late! After a week and a half they decided there was "something wrong inside the wall". 4 days before i was leaving the AC started to make loud noises coming and going. Same thing. Maintenance sent over but next night same. And if you don't sleep real hard you will wake up every time! Hilton HQ has offed me, as compensation, an amazing 15 000 points!! It's ridiculous. Those points gives me almost 4 HOURS at La Romana if I should use point for a stay in the same type of room. LMAO! Thanks Hilton!
Amazing Staff and Hotel!!
We had the most wonderful stay at La Romana Hilton. The hotel is located on beautiful grounds, the beach is breathtaking; clean white sandy beach with clear blue water, perfect for snorkelling!! Also the sunrises and sunsets are one of the best I’ve seen in the world!! The restaurants were unreal, the food was always delicious! The swimming pools are one of the best, nice and big with an infinity outlook to the sea - absolutely wonderful! Lots of sun beds too so plenty of choice on where to park yourself for the day. The staff are what really makes this hotel, everyone member of staff you pass say “Hello” with a smile. All so friendly and helpful and smiley. A few names to mention who really made our trip - “Benny” Bienvenido Cordones from the buffet restaurant you stole our hearts, Carlos King from Concierge you are a real credit to this hotel, Santa Moira the night maid you are so beautiful and lastly our favourite Franklin who is the waiter for the beach dinners you are just the nicest man we have ever met. Special thank you to those but just a huge thank you to everyone for making our hotel perfect!! We will definitely be back xxxxxxx
First year complete as a Hilton Resort
First of all, we're coming here since 13 year now, first it was Casa del Mar, then Dreams and now it's Hilton. We have been here last year, when the Resort changed from Dreams to Hilton and I've to say, they did a good job. Not everything is good but the most important thing first. Many of the employees are still the same then the last years and they're making the difference. Astrid, Blanca and all the others Ladies at the Premium Concierge Desk - Johnny, Junior and Berenice at the Premium Poolbar - all the guys and girls in the restaurant or at the coffee bar. They are what this resort is! We had a premium suite and a normal premium room this time. The rooms are really nice, we loved our suite and everything. But now to the points which aren't that good. We told them several times to the concierge but sadly nothing changed. Hopefully someone from Hilton we react on this: 1. we are early up. Mostly latest at 8am at the Beach and already then more than 75% of all sunchairs with shadow in the premium beach area have been reservated. The last year always a guy was there to put the things away when no one showed up. But this year some chairs have been reservated the whole day. Also very sad is, that some employees help the guests to reservate when giving a good tip. 2. 6 out of 18 nights our air condition was horrible. We said it three times but nothing changed. The ladies at the concierge desk did their best to help us out but when you have a suite you don't want to change the room. Sadly no one came up with other ideas. 3. Please make a desk or a board or whatever where you can see directly which restaurants are open or not. Don't want to ask all the time or switch on the TV for that. 🙂 4. They are still building on the family side. You can hear and sometimes smell it. But normally the building phase should end very soon. 5. We booked via an tour operator but did the upgrade directly via Hilton. Sadly I didn't get any Hilton Honor Points for that and also after staying more than 10 times in the same hotel for longer vacations (also when it was not Hilton before), I think a little thank you wouldn't be too much. So all in all you can have really good vacations here. I would recommend whenever possible take a premium room the anmesties are worth it. Premium Concierge, Bar, separate check in, high branded alcohol etc. Last thing to say we'll come back. For us it's the people here which make the difference and also we want to see what Hilton will make out of this resort.
Stayed for 10 nights with my partner. Fabulous hotel in all respects. I have to mention the amazing staff...so hard working, friendly, helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Good range of dining options. We upgraded to the premium service which gave us greater options in terms of dining, bars, pools etc. A few issues with power cuts which were quickly resolved. The hotel itself including the rooms were spotlessly clean. I noticed a great emphasis on hand hygiene with hand gels everywhere and an expectation that everyone used it especially prior to going into the restaurants. I found this reassuring. Would definitely go back.
