Amankora Punakha Lodge

An intimate hotel in a traditional Bhutanese farmhouse surrounded by modern suites.

This Punakha hotel is probably the most traditional of the Aman properties in terms of architecture and style. Set in a charming fruit orchard, which is reached by a suspension bridge over the Mo Chhu river, and centred on a three-storey heritage farmhouse, it offers plenty of rural Bhutanese character. During the warmer months meals are served in the charming courtyard, while a range of private dining experiences can be arranged around the resort. The spa, including a yoga and meditation room and a steam room, is set in a separate two-storey building while the modern suites are located in more contemporary buildings located close to the farmhouse. Active guests can follow the uphill trail to a local monastery, the Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, which sits on a ridge overlooking the Punakha Valley (approx. two hours).
