First visit to Cyprus. This hotel is amazing. The staff are fantastic, room was lovely and the views are wonderful, especially at sunset. In all great location - beautiful walk to the harbour. Highly recommend. Will definitely be coming back.
Hotel was absolutely perfect to spend 1 week with a family in sunny Cyprus. A lot of different restaurants, pools e.t.c. Private beach. Service was very high level. Very good breakfast. Clean rooms with nice sea view.
Wonderful week in luxurious surroundings
My husband & I have just come back from a wonderful week at the Elysium. From the moment you walk in the door....no actually draw up outside at the entrance.....you are treated as a five star guest by the lovely staff. The doormen are all attentive and courteous, the reception staff are charming and helpful and they all speak excellent English. Nothing was too much trouble and we were shown round the beautiful hotel and everything was explained to us. We paid a bit more for a sea view room which did have an amazing view over the pool area and then beyond to the sea. (However, the side sea view rooms also had good views....so not necessarily essential) We had wonderful sunset views and sun on the balcony from about noon onwards.....and beautiful night time views of the grounds all lit up. Our room was large and the bed was king size with a lovely comfortable mattress and big proper down pillows (I think they do have a pillow menu...but we didn’t want to change ours!) There was plenty of storage and a safe and a huge mini bar and tea and coffee making (which makes a BIG difference to our experience as we love a cuppa first thing!) The hairdryer and dressing table set up is fab for us ladies and doubles as a desk for hubbie who never stops working! (As an aside, the WiFi was excellent...fast and available all the time ....and free!) The bathroom was a good size and filled with lots of fluffy white towels and robes and free M&B goodies.....the ONLY slight criticism I might have is that the shower was just a normal shower head on a hose rather than a big one coming out from above .....but it was all fine and you could stand under it.....I just love a big shower head and powerful shower of a morning. I also had a couple of baths which were lovely (& not always available with wet rooms etc). The light switches are also VERY clever - you can have ambient lighting and also you can put on the ‘do not disturb’ button or ‘service my room’ when you go out....& there is a red or green light by your door.....so you never get disturbed if you don’t want to be. The housekeeping services were excellent....they always cleaned the room by the time we got back and the evening turn down service brought water and cleaned everything up again...I really can’t fault the service - really excellent and all the staff were friendly and efficient. We were only there on a B & B basis.....I think if we stay again (which we fully intend to do) we would go half board. We did eat in the Italian restaurant one night and also in the Asian another .....both were excellent and not mega expensive. We never ate at the dinner buffet in the Epicurean (although we could have done) but it looked lovely and they have different theme nights and the tables are laid up throughout the grounds with all the lights making it a lovely and romantic place to dine. The breakfast was one of the best I have every experienced. It literally catered for EVERYONE......I felt I wanted to stay there all day just to do it justice. I would challenge anyone to say they couldn’t find something they liked. The breakfast staff were excellent, smiley, friendly, efficient. Again, nothing is too much trouble and everything is done with a smile. They will bring you tea, coffee, freshly squeezed orange juice, fizz (which I admit to having a glass every morning!...what a way to start the day!) There is enough seating to be inside, outside, in the shade, in the sun....whatever!! (I suspect this is NOT the case in peak season.....but it was in November!). The pool area is magnificent, with many different places to sit and (because of the time of year- November) when we lost the sun in one seat, we just changed to another! There are also loads of different places to sit on the grass areas over looking the sea and then they have cabanas along the path to the sea/beach. There are also more loungers on the beach (although not many). The pool staff are always on hand to help move umbrellas, get you cushions etc!! The bar staff were attentive and helpful and you always got little snacks when you ordered a drink. I didn’t feel that the drinks were over priced either. We have visited smart hotels in Spain where a G&T is €15 or more.....they were about half that. Two (big) beers cost €11 at the pool.....which I think is not bad in a five star hotel. My point is I didn’t spend my holiday feeling ripped off (which can happen in an expensive, smart do think we chose a very good time to go....9-16th November.....we were lucky with the weather and the hotel was nowhere near full. The sun is still warm and lovely during the day, but it has gone down by half 4.....so obviously the days are shorter! But for a week of winter sun and only 4 hours flight away was fab! If I had to criticise anything I guess it is the beach area. They have done what they can with it, but it is only a small area and you have to walk over pebbles to get into the sea. They have also built a pier where you can climb down and swim from there......but this wouldn’t be possible for everyone to do. However, we did sit on the beach a couple of times at the start of the holiday and the sea was lovely and of course the setting sun amazing. There is a larger beach round the corner (nothing to do with the hotel) but it has rip tides and I didn’t visit it. However, because it is small and there are no water-sports or engines etc, it is very beautiful and clear water and beautiful swimming once you get into the water. As a rule, I do love the beach, but the Elysium’s pool area was so amazing, that it didn’t detract from my enjoyment and also I could get my sea fix just by wandering down there and sitting on a cabana! Last point is the location. Nice and near the airport (20 minutes and although we organised transfers it isn’t an expensive taxi fare). You can walk to restaurants (& shops) from the Elysium ....only 5 minutes to the nearest one.....but they are all located on quite a busy road, and although the food was good in all the ones we tried, there is no romance to the location. We also walked into Paphos harbour once, which took us 40 minutes.....not a particularly scenic walk but safe and on pavements all the way. But an easy €8-10 taxi ride. Same as going into the old town .....which we also did once. The Elysium is a bit of an oasis of luxury in a slightly less luxurious area. To sum up.....we are mid fifties, have been to many different destinations and hotels. We can be as fussy as anything and I guess we have quite high standards these days. The Elysium lived up to all of them for us. When we arrived we were tired, stressed and grumpy.......7 days later we were chilled, smiley and lovely!!! Thanks to the hassle-free stay we had there. We will return.
In all the domains, it's an excellent hotel. Very good service , very clean. The gym trainer ANNINOS very professional. We feel that the guests are in the center In Paphos, this is the best hotel (our opinion....) THANK YOU FOR ALL!!!!
Wedding of our dreams
Last Sunday we held our wedding at the Hotel and it was a dream come true in every possible way. Although we took the decision at very short notice to hold both the religious service in the chapel and the reception at the Elysium, the management and staff handled everything with complete professionalism, care and attention to detail. We had a delightful time from start to finish,we felt at ease from the first meeting, given helpful advice and know how during the planning, and they seamlessly dealt with unexpected requests by guests at the reception itself. You get so much more by hosting a function here, its the luxurious ambience of the public spaces of the hotel itself, the walk to the chapel down the beautifully landscaped pedestrian walkway, the grand staircase down to the reception rooms, the elegant venue itself, the four course dishes (each plate a work of art, delicious and served by expert waiters). I want to especially thank Katie, our wedding coordinator for all her support and assistance and Lucy, the hairdresser who made me feel and look my best and whose experience and artistic sensibility is truly fantastic. Our wholehearted thanks to all.
