First time Costa Rica visitors
This was my family’s first trip to Costa Rica and it was amazing. Capita Suizo was the perfect location. It had great food, beautiful views of the Pacific, and was conveniently located just far enough outside Tamarindo. This gave us the luxury of the peace and tranquility of the beach but yet close enough to walk to town for shopping and dining. I can not say it enough but the people here being so nice and friendly. My husband and I traveled with our two children, ages 16 & 11. Not once did I feel concerned or unsafe here. We did a horse back riding and Panache catamaran sunset tour that were both excellent. This is definitely a trip our family will take again.
Christmas in Paradise
Just returned from our 1st trip to Costa Rica. We spent 4 days in Tamarindo Beach at Capitan Suizo. The location (at the end of the beach, less crowded), the landscaping (impeccable, maximizing natural beauty AND privacy), and the beach itself (stunning views of mountains, deep and vast expanse of sand, and private & shaded "above the beach" location of all the Capitan chaises)...were all 10 out of 10. What made it MOST special for us, though, were the people. The restaurant staff there was so warm and friendly. I literally cried when I said good-bye. Nubia, Max, Gustavo, Angel, Naty... we will remember you and hope to see you again...muy pronto!
Fabulous Property in Tamarindo!!
I travel frequently and I have become quite familiar with fine hotels and inns. I’m not bragging - just want to state emphatically that Capitan Suiso Hotel in Costa Rica sets an enviable standard amongst other properties, worldwide! While close to the hustle & bustle of Tamarindo, this great property could not be a better sanctuary - with (not bothersome!) monkeys, iguanas, raccoons and a few friendly cats. There is wonderful privacy between all rooms, too! The staff, the rooms & bungalows and the food/ beverage service was all spectacular! Capitan Suiso’s fantastic pool has incredible views over the Pacific beachfront, which is at the property’s edge! I can hardly wait to return!
Best Hotel Experience Ever!
We booked last minute due to a terrible experience at another place and had a wonderful time. The rooms are amazing. No detail is missed and the atmosphere is just increditble. The entire staff went above and beyond . We can't wait to return to Tamarindo and we'll never stay somehwere else. We had 4 rooms and 12 people and we were all happy.
Fantastic Beachfront Location
We chose Capitan Suizo for the beach portion of our recent trip to Costa Rica due to the beachfront location on a beginner surfing beach and an easy walk/drive into Tamarindo for great meals. It was fantastic for our kids to take surfing lessons right in front of the hotel while we watched from loungers. This location truly can't be beat! The hotel property is also very nice. Our bungalow was spacious and charming and the resort has a great compact layout with easy walks to the pool, beach and restaurant and lovely lush landscaping. That said, the hotel was hit and miss for us. We did arrive from a more luxurious hotel (not expecting Capitan Suizo to be at the same level) but we did have a number of service issues. 2 of 4 days we needed to request housekeeping as they never showed up. One day, after requesting housekeeping, they clearly rushed through and did not even remove dirty glasses. Water was supposed to be delivered daily but required us to request at the front desk every day but one. The daily Manager would greet every table at breakfast and ask if we needed anything. Once, we clearly stated what we needed and they nodded and continued on to the next table without taking care of the request. Once again, we had to request from the front desk. The towels in the room could also be replaced as they are looking threadbare. Breakfast is included (appreciated) but it is a bit confusing, possibly due to Covid procedures, as there is a buffet but you must order any items through the waitstaff and cooked items are also available but delivered separately. We found ourselves eating in intervals as food came out randomly. I should note that we ate lunch once at the hotel and did not encounter any of these issues. I would probably eliminate the buffet altogether at this time and just have a set menu. Finally, the hotel advertises on-site surfing lessons but it was difficult initially getting pricing and details. That said, the outside surf instructor (Marco) was fantastic but we did have to pay directly. There was also an hourly charge for kayaks, which seemed unnecessary since it is a small resort and not many people using them at any one time. Overall, we truly enjoyed our stay and many of the staff including the front desk staff and bartenders were helpful (dinner reservations, unique cocktails, etc.). I'm assuming that much of what we experienced may be due to Covid changes but hopefully can be easily remedied as the hotel and location are really special.
