Where to go in Colombia, whether you’re looking for beautifully rugged beaches, throwback colonial vibes or a unique wildlife experience

Fascinating cities and superb natural landscapes, from rolling coffee plantations to tropical Caribbean coastline – Colombia is one of Latin America’s most diverse countries. Bogotá is a popular place to start, with a beautiful old town and one of the finest public parks in Latin America. You can easily make your way west to the nearby Coffee Region, home to Pereira and Salento with their rustic haciendas and fragrant fields; depending on how long you’re staying, you can head up to the revitalised city of Medellín as well, creating a convenient loop itinerary in the centre of the country for you to enjoy over a few days.

Cartagena and the northern coast are ideal if you’re looking to soak up the sun and explore untamed and unspoilt beaches. Flights are only an hour and a half from Bogotá and you won’t have to spend big on a ticket, either.
