Is this for you?
Discovering the world on one of Star Clippers’ tall ships is a totally different way of cruising, combining the timeless romance of sailing and traditional onboard facilities. The three beautiful ships – Star Clipper, Star Flyer and Royal Clipper – sail between the islands of the Caribbean, Thailand and Indonesia, and from port to port in the Mediterranean. Life onboard is a real adventure and you can get involved by helping to hoist the sails and even climb the crow’s nest. There’s also free watersports like windsurfing, kayaking and snorkelling on offer in some ports of call.
Inspired by the legendary Preussen – a clipper ship that transported nitrate from Chile to Germany from the turn of the 20th Century – the Royal Clipper is graceful and intimate and a throwback to the golden age of travel. She has five masts and 42 sails and looks breathtaking as she cuts through the waves between ports of call around the Caribbean and Europe. And the Royal Clipper’s small size means you’ll be able to anchor in out-of-the-way spots as well as visit larger ports of call. Inside, the design reflects the traditional sailing vibe with dark mahogany wood panelling and furnishings and a grand three-deck atrium. Up on the Sun Deck, there are three plunge pools. The alternative spot to spend some time soaking up the sun and keeping an eye peeled for bow-riding dolphins is the bowsprit net at the front of the ship.
Our suggested cabin: The Royal Clipper’s Outside Cabins have dark-wood panelling, a marble en suite bathroom and porthole windows.
