Swiss family over canadian thanksgiving

Great stay in this historic hotel! Even when the restaurant of the hotel was booked out - they arranged for us for our anniversary a special dinner with a big surprise! A special thank to the supervisor of the restaurants, Katherine!

Just disappointing

We certainly expected more from a hotel which hosted the G7 in 2018. The hotel appears to be suffering from a lack of staff. Queues to check in, one restaurant closed leading to real difficulties getting booked in for dinner in the remaining open restaurant. No house keeping for the 2 nights, which in fairness, seemed to be fairly standard in Quebec due to staff shortages. Our room did not have wifi as it was so far from the main body of the hotel. Yes, not the end of the world, but for the price we paid ........... definitely expected more.

Beautiful area to visit, the hotel was in a great location. The outdoor pools are heated so I was able to swim outdoors in October, wonderful! The golf course is beautiful and very well maintained. The restaurants are very good and reasonably priced. Definitely recommend this hotel and to visit Charlevoix area, we will return again next fall.

worst fairmont experience

No concierge seen in 5 days No sports director Restaurant completely full for 5 days, yet appears to be empty Lobby bar is unattended No room cleaning for 3 days positives were golfing, good room size and location

not as good as expected, not child-friendly, beautiful views on st-laurent

Positive: beautiful hotel architecture, views on st-laurent are second to none! staff is overall very nice Negative: I understand there is covid of course so that the experience is different. However I found the quality of the hotel significantly lower than I expected for the price (around 400CAD$ / night). Rooms are small, bathroom is also very small. It feels like the hotel needs a major refurbishment. Small annoying things in the room for a hotel of that price such as: window blackout curtain not closing all the way down, light system not convenient. We left some stuff in the hallway hoping that it would be picked up (and so did other rooms) no-one picked it up for almost 24hours (glasses in the hallway etc). Doors do not shut properly for a lot of rooms around us, therefore lots of noise when people close their doors, not good when you try to put your kids to sleep. Not child-friendly hotel. Almost nothing was offered to us to help us with our babies (no plastic cutlery, no offer to wash our baby dishes after a meal). Only one waitress offered us plastic bowls the last day of our stay. Our children are 1 and 3, def not the place to go with small kids. we had all our meals at the restaurant and even after 3 days they were still asking about QR code, there should be a way to show it in their system so we feel like they know us after 9 meals. (other hotels during our trip recognized us and stopped asking for QR code). I undertstand the additional pressure during covid but when you charge 400$ you need to offer better service or you need to lower the price further to make up for the lower experience. My opinion only.
