A beautiful hotel and fabulous location, but the carpets in The corridor were smelly and the bed linens old and needed to be updated. No service at the bar, after 30 minutes we left. Very disappointing
Lovely scenery and friendly service
ROOM (4) The view is fantastic and it was a pleasure waking up to the majestic St Lawrence every morning. The soundproofing could be better as we heard the family next to us a couple of times and I had to leave the AC fan on as white noise to drown it out. SERVICE(4) Everyone was friendly, tolerated our elementary French :) Room service was prompt and friendly too. The service at the bar was painfully slow though. Took 20-25 minutes to bring us a beer and a glass of wine and another 30 mins to get out food. We stuck to room service from there on which was a lot more prompt. FOOD (4) Mostly good. The Le Grand Breakfast was a treat, however, it was also inconsistent. The first time we didn't get the croissant. The second time we got the croissant but the delicious maple yogurt had been replaced with regular yogurt. Would have been nice to receive high quality consistently. LOCATION (5) The views, the history is what makes a Fairmont! OVERALL (4) Not quite a 5-star experience, perhaps COVID has played a role in that. That said I did get a great deal (stay one night, get one when free) so from that perspective, it was solid value. Had I paid full price I might have been a tad disappointed.
We paid A LOT of money ($1,275 just for the room!) for our two-day stay and received mediocre service. The bell person could not touch our luggage because of COVID...no gloves? So we had to load it on the cart and unload it in the room. The room was not cleaned because they are only cleaning rooms every three days. Access to the grounds was limited because of COVID. The service in the bar was very long, and twice I had to go get our drinks. In fact, a waiter told me it would be faster - waited 20 minutes at the bar!! It seemed that there was a COVID excuse for everything. Our stay at their sister hotel, Chateau Frontenac was completely the opposite in every way and was half the price.
Hotel affected by COVID
We have been coming to the Manoir Richelieu for several years and always loved it; however, this summer things aren't as great as they used to be, most likely because of the pandemic. The hotel is understaffed and the staff often don't seem to know what they are doing. For example: we were told on checking in that housekeeping services would only be every three days instead of daily; when the staff did come in, on the third day of our stay, all they did was make the bed (without changing the sheets) and bring in new towels without removing the used towels. We went to the bar for drinks and waited 20 minutes before anyone took our order. Hopefully, once the pandemic is over, the hotel can return to its previous 5-star standards.
amazing scenery and good service
Great view, good service except the valet is self indoor parking. The restaurant is ok, it’s acceptable based on hotel chain. The wine list is very poor. It’s either cheap undrinkable or overpriced with a very restricted selection. Casino next door for gambler’s bad habit ;)
