Great price but lacking otherwise
If you are use to a brand name chain, this is not the experience for you. It's the price for downtown Toronto for a reason! It has a great location but the decor is dated, it is located near a fire station, it is in between 2 universities, you can hear the street traffic as well as noise from the hallway and neighbouring rooms-there were not excessively loud, but you can still hear the noise of guests coming and going. We could not sleep there was too much going on all night. The doors are old style access key card, no microwave or fridge. It felt like an older apartment building-washrooms had mold in the grout.
Great facilities, excellent location, negative attitude of the staff
It was a prime location in Downtown Toronto. Hotel was superb, facilities were great, room and bathroom were sparkling clean and nice. Elevator was super fast. Paid breakfast was also great as there were plenty of options. Overall great. Attitude of the staff was worse considering the standard of the hotel. When checking-in and checking-out the lady was treating us very badly. Mainly, we ordered some dinner from Skip the dishes. Hotel staff member asked the rider to not to go to the room and leave it in the lobby as they will be handed-over to the room. Somehow they never did. When we called 3 times and asked about it, there answer was they are busy and refused delivering. (As it's Covid season, We didn't want to go down after having a wash) and finally we went to sleep with an empty stomach.
Overall a pleasant stay
Overall this was a good visit to Toronto. The location was good that we were able to see a lot of the city (much of it on foot) due to its central location. The only disappointment was that there was no mini fridge in the room. We like to enjoy our beverages, and there was no way to chill anything, or keep our restaurant leftovers.
Spend a bit more and stay somewhere else
Very disappointed. A lot of noise all night from other guests. Elevator situation is horrendous; Only 3 out of 6 available, working. At one point I was forced to walk down 18 flights as no one would let me on an elevator because of “social distancing”. Very upsetting. Bathtub was clogged right from the beginning. TV was glitching, maintenance did come to fix it. Very limited food options. I had to go out of the hotel to get basic food items. There were not even any vending machines. I will pay extra to stay somewhere else next time for sure.
How is this hotel referred to as a 4star hotel??
I don’t have a lot of time to type a long review, but if you love your comfort don’t bother trying this place. Courtyard by Marriott was a way better experience within the same price range. The rooms looked bad and I was willing to pay extra for a different hotel but it was unfortunately too late
