Set deep in Ontario’s ‘cottage country’, The Rosseau is a landmark hotel set on a bluff overlooking the lake of the same name. The hotel has plenty of facilities including a full service spa, an indoor-outdoor pool and three restaurants. Spa Rosseau has treatment rooms, a Vichy room for hydrotherapy treatments and a whirlpool bath where you can relax with incredible lake views. The dining options range from the all-day Cottages Restaurant to the Muskoka Chophouse and the Italian eatery, Teca. In the summer you can dine out on The Deck where there’s comfy seating around fire pits and a pizza oven. As you might expect from a hotel in this lake-dotted region of Ontario, you’re encouraged to get out on the water here with free canoeing, kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding offered on the lake. And for a supplement, you can take one of the pontoon boat cruise around the waterfront, discovering hidden coves, islands and inlets. If you’d rather stay on dry land, there are guided walks through the resort's grounds as well as Segway tours. During the winter, there are snowshoeing excursions.
This fantastic resort sits right at the base of the sedate slopes of The Blue Mountain resort. It overlooks the small but perfectly formed Mill Pond and is just a short drive from the coast of Lake Huron’s Georgian Bay. There’s plenty to do in the area; during the summer, you can head down to the Blue Mountains beach and take a cooling dip in the lake, kayak or canoe, soar through the treetops on a zip line, ride the Ridge Runner Mountain Coaster or take to the Open-Air Gondola up to the head of a handful of mountain trails. Back at the resort there’s a freeform swimming pool and a hot tub that’s the perfect place to relax on chilly days in the autumn, winter or spring. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served at the on-site restaurant, Oliver & Bonacini Café Grill but there are other dining options in the heart of the village which is just a short walk away. The rooms are wonderfully modern with comfy furnishings. The Deluxe Rooms have a small kitchenette with a microwave and mini fridge while the one bedroom suites have a separate living room. Upgrade to a One Bedroom Suite and Den and you’ll have a full balcony, a larger kitchenette with stovetop and dishwasher and space for six people.
