Best value in Ottawa
The value cannot be beat. The hotel is very nice and the rooms are more than adequate. Service is top notch. The location is awsome. At the begining of Elgin close to all the restaurants and close to the lower town.
Simply the BEST!
The Lord Elgin has ALWAYS been a prime hotel. The location is perfect, especially if you enjoy sightseeing while enjoying a pleasant walk. Parliament Hill is only a five-minute stroll up the street, so if you want to see the summer laser show projected onto the buildings, it is easy to go without worrying about transportation. On July 1st.,Canada Day parades, live shows, and fireworks are there too, and going back to the hotel between events is quick. Remembrance Day parades and touching ceremonies on November 11th. take place at the war memorial across the street! The Farmers’ market is a pleasant walk, as is the Rideau Centre for shopping across the bridge. Boat rides on the canal, and even the world’s longest ice rink on the canal, are there. Now there is a zamboni-groomed outdoor ice rink across from the park when the canal is not frozen. We really enjoy Broadway shows and world-class performances across the street at the NAC, National Arts Centre! Sign up online with NAC too to get tickets easily. If you want a taxi, there are some at the front door! Several bus connections line up on the bridge nearby. Naturally, the bedding is top quality, and everything is spotless. Still, what I admire most about this hotel is the quality of the fine people who work there to keep visitors informed, well-fed, comfortable and happy. They simply are a credit to the hotel, and indeed are ambassadors for the great Canadian people in this their capital city. Sign up directly with the hotel to enable access to a VARIETY of special offers and email updates. Besides the AARP/CARP senior rates, their “Cars Stay Free” offer includes parking and an extensive buffet for two. Prices are quoted in Canadian dollars, so Trivago links etc.may be misleading you, so use caution.
Friendly staff, Super clean rooms and easy access to restaurants by foot, I love the treadmill and pool in the morning before I started work. Plenty of towels and water and well maintained facility. Hotel can be pricey but if you choose your dates wisely you can get some great deals.
Friendly and Convenient for a show at NAC
First time staying at this hotel. Had a show to see at NAC so figured I would treat myself and stay at the hotel nearly across the street so that I could visit the art museum the next morning. Staycation. Great checkin experience and they offered me a discount pass for the museum. I had one of the smallest rooms but it was clean and comfortable. I had the buffet breakfast in the restaurant downstairs the next morning. A bit pricey but worth it. Everything was really fresh and I was able to load up and did not need lunch. Bonus was running into some of the people that was on stage at the show (in the lobby) since the cast was also staying at the same hotel.
Great location. Very average room.
The hotel is a great location. Near shopping. Restaurants. Museums. Parliament. They lost my reservation after I confirmed with a CC. I was on business and several others had the same situation. The room was adequate. I found the bright lights on the front of the building glaring into my room. And it felt tired. The restaurant is mediocre and pricey. I'd walk a block or two down the street. And $200 for winter. I'd just try elsewhere.
