Pillar & Post superb service
From the moment we checked in with Matt and the shuttle into town with Tony as well as Ivy who has been checking up on us to make sure we are good, the service has been superb. The rooms are clean and linens are fresh. I would highly recommend this vintage hotel to anyone looking to stay in Niagara on The Lake
Four star hotel… really?
We spent four days at the Pillar and Post and checked out earlier today. Our stay was mediocre at best. Although the staff was friendly and helpful, it did not offset the fact that this property is old, tired and needs a serious refresh. Our room was dark, noisy and incredibly humid. The bathroom was small, always humid and the shower curtain felt like it had not been changed in years. The air conditioning / heating in the room was very noisy and simply did not work properly. At $400 a night on a bed and breakfast basis, this experience was well below our expectations.
Romantic hotel, nice staff great pools and amenities.
My wife and I stayed at the Piller and Post over the thanksgiving long weekend and we enjoyed our stay. The room was clean and spacious with a warm gas fireplace. Overall a very charming hotel and I recommend it for a getaway. Lastly, Mathew at the front was a great and attentive staff member who went above and beyond. His manager Tim was also a problem solver who helped my wife and I sort out a few issues with a wine tasting we had booked.
Lovely grounds, tired interior
Lovely grounds and we enjoyed having access to the spa right on site. Building interiors are definitely tired, both in the room and the spa (dirty grout, scratches on the wood, really noisy a/c in the room, ripped chairs in the pedicure area in the spa, stained carpets in hallways). That said, the staff were incredible and we loved having the virtual concierge who was extremely responsive. The hot tub grotto is lovely.
Not worth it
We booked one night only wanting to sit by the pool for the afternoon because the weather was warm in October. When we arrived we were allowed to check in early which was appreciated. While checking in we were informed that the outdoor pool was out of order for the day. Very disappointed but we should have been given the option to cancel. We had to cancel 3 days prior to not have to pay. We did get into the hot spring for the allowed 20 mins. The indoor pool was open and full of kids. The bathrooms by the indoor pool were out of order also?? This place is way too expensive to not have facilities up and running. And the beds and pillows were not comfortable at all. Rooms dated. Will not return.
