About this independent tour

Lazy Bear Lodge Ultimate Arctic Summer Adventure is a set itinerary, however it can easily be added to your tailor-made Canada itinerary. This wilderness and wildlife experience operates on a group basis.

Recommended highlights

Your six-night Arctic experience begins with one night in the provincial capital of Winnipeg, the gateway to the northern Manitoba tundra. The following morning you'll be transferred to the airport for your 2½ hour flight to Churchill. Here a guide from Lazy Bear Lodge will meet you and accompany you to the lodge, your home for the next four nights.

An introduction to the town includes a cultural and heritage tour which takes you to a number of sites such as the Cape Merry battery which overlooks the waters of Hudson Bay. Later in the day you'll have some free time to continue your exploration of the town at your own pace, or join one of the tours on offer at the lodge.

Your first full day in Churchill will be spent on a Hudson Bay coastal tour. This is a fantastic opportunity to spot polar bears in their summer habitats, cooling off with a swim or basking on the rocks at the edge of the bay and the banks of nearby river estuaries. The following day, head back out on the water this time searching for beluga whales on the Churchill River. There will be a day free to take part in any excursion that may have been postponed or join an included Summer Dog Carting excursion (dog sledding minus the snow!).

The final morning in Churchill is spent exploring on land. You'll board an Arctic Crawler Tundra Buggy® and head out of the town into the Churchill Wildlife Management Area. You'll be able to witness the region's flora and fauna species before returning to the airport to fly south for one more night in Winnipeg before flying home or continuing on your Canadian journey.
