Covid stay time
Quality of service and value is low relatively speaking. My personal opinion is perhaps Covid has lowered the bar for some businesses in their service area. This has been our experience with our stays at this Fairmount. The cost of various expenses like room charges and food has not changed and is at pre Covid level but services have!
Excellent hotel and staff
I love this hotel. Everyone is friendly and the service is excellent. The only complain I have is with the people at the lounge that are not very friendly. Specially the receptionist. The location is perfect too
Horrible check in experience.
Booked two night stay at the Fairmont with my travel agent, who booked a special price through booking.com. I received a booking.com confirmation code and when I arrived I was told without any notification that the reservation was cancelled after already paying for it. After two hours in the lobby working with the manager on duty I was told he was able to resolve the issue only to wake up at 8am in the morning with a phone call from the front desk saying that they problem still was occurring. Long story short, I ended paying double price and none of the involved parties was willing to take responsibility. With two upset kids and a pissed off wife, I'll be sure never to stay there again. You can't rely on a confirmation code from booking.com.
Great views and pleasant friendly staff here
We stayed at this resort for 10 days over Christmas and New Years day. First I want to thank Alexandra Hastings for our view room on the 8th floor which was close enough to the elevator and yes we enjoyed the Christmas tree lights, families skiing, pools and the sun coming up. Thankyou for assisting us in this location and your communication throughout was great! We did not know of the Gold rooms when we booked, no one advised us of them as we would have upgraded to them on our floor. I had a tour with Christine Boyle and yes this is a wonderful updated rooms on this floor, lounge and benefits. Next visit it is the Gold Room, 8th floor! The covid rules were followed, temperatures taken often, cards given, and spacing was very good. The concierge staff were always very pleasant and help full. Front counter girl Verne (new to our country) was asked for a copy of our bill and my wife told to go print it out on another computer. This was frustrating, time consuming and we could not get our print out so far of our stay expenses. I ended up at counter again and it was a English translation problem and after explaining what a stay print out was I finally got it! Ian concierge (older man) was very helpful, kind, and just down to earth and nice. Sabrina Neuberger also at the front desk taking our temperatures and had such a nice smile each contact and helped us at the counter while we booked in. Thank You! Brian( maintenance) was great! Helped us get a bedside lamp finally after three calls as the lamp lights did not work, lamp shade fell off when cord pulled. Brian very helpful as got a perfect lamp and explain some details of the villages Thanks also! Joan the room attendant was always smiling and very nice and said hello when passing and did a very excellent job. We ate every day at the two restaurants, and had our Christmas Eve meal at the Wild Flower area restaurant. This restaurant was disappointing as the Eve dinner turkey was tasteless, wines very expensive and we were not told the prices and waitress at times was very busy with other people, only one in a large area. Our bill of over 440.00 plus was a huge surprise. To serve always 2 oz. of liquor and not asking was a surprise also. We are very used to fine dinning and world traveling of over 20 yrs but just not good service, food, bar same drinks were different mixed then the other Mallard restaurant. Wonderful Christmas tree decorations, out side back trees, front by entrance also very beautiful! Hotel bus very nice for pick up any where in villages, as well as their BMW cars for delivers, thanks. The pools open, gym also, machines spacing. I used them each day for 1hr plus. I do feel strongly that they could have been cleaned more often. Put a sign as disinfected, or used. I used the same machine for 10 days, some days was over 1 hr till someone cleaned a machine. Other patrons used a machine that was not cleaned and had to clean it them selves and did not have a towel. Very nice small gym with adequate exercise equipment's. Masks worn by everyone and number of people were monitored. There should be two people at counter always. This hotel is wonderful, restaurants provide adequate food, and service at Mallard was excellent. Austin greatest server, and what a fantastic memory! Isam male waiter was also very good at serving just what we wanted! Portobbello was our favorite breakfast restaurant. Thanks to Tony especially so nice, friendly, hard worker, just so like able and remembered us each day. Tyler chef gave us the best helping and also great food each day. Joel Kaastra was friendly, nice to talk to, and made sure we always got a superb breakfast, thanks! Again the staff is excellent. We will tell our friends to stay here and we will be back! Longbeach.
New year celebration
An incredible experience and, without a shadow of doubt, the best way to kick off the new year. We stayed on the gold level following it's renovation in November and we were left absolutely speechless at the quality of finish upon arrival. Every single member of staff we encountered, from the check in team to pool servers and restaurant staff were incredible, making our stay one of the most enjoyable ever. I cannot praise this place highly enough. If you haven't stayed here yet, then you don't know what you're missing! We'll be back again in the springtime and we seriously cannot wait - AMAZING!!
