Good location brutal service
We had always wondered about this property having skied by it for years. We decided to give it a try While the location is great, the service by Fernie Lodging was awful. Maintenance guy was in our room when we arrived, failed to fix the problem and left without a word. Lots of things missing, not working. No service at all throughout the six night stay. For the price paid, we have stayed at way better ski in ski out locations at Fernie.
Great location; rooms are very nice but small for the price
This lodge is adjacent to the bunny hill, as well as a lower-mountain chairlift that gets you up onto the main runs. Ski-out for sure, and ski-in if you know which run to take. The lodge sits slightly above the village, so you need to plan in advance if you want to ski directly to Snow Creek. The lodge itself is a beautiful building, with a nice lobby that guests can use for family events, games playing, and the like. There is an outdoor swimming pool, which unfortunately was not sufficiently heated during our stay. There are also two outdoor hot tubs which are very nice. The underground parking garage is a great amenity for guests. Our family of four stayed in a studio room (S208), with a queen bed and pull-out sofa bed. From what we could tell, this is the main type of room in Snow Creek. It was a very nice room, but pricey for the size. On the upside, the beds were comfortable, and the kitchen nicely outfitted. It was also surprisingly quiet in the lodge, despite the presence of a number of families with young kids. One aspect of the lodge, that visitors should be aware of, is that the front desk is not staffed all day. They are there in the morning, and then later in the afternoon and evening. Strangely, they are not staffed mid-afternoon when most guests are likely to arrive. We had to drive to a different building to speak with the property management staff, only to be told they couldn't check us in, and we would have to return to Snow Creek to await the staff. It all worked out eventually, and the staff were very helpful and friendly, but it is an odd time to be unstaffed. Overall, this is a good choice for staying on the hill at Fernie, and we would stay here again.
Best Ski-In/Ski-Out Property at Fernie!
We rented unit 401, a two bedroom corner unit. It was more than adequate and very comfortable for our family. It is your standard ski condo decor, and we have stayed at MANY ski resort properties all over north america... Basic and clean. Nothing Fancy BUT we came for the skiing and chose the condo for the location. This two bedroom faces both the mighty moose runs and the elk chair... It is amazing. NOTHING beats the convenience of this property. The outdoor hot tubs and pools are fun for apres ski. Snow Creek Lodge has a great main floor, that has a fantastic common area, lodge style decor and a few BBQ's for guests to use. The underground parking is great. We are season pass holders, and we book through RCR who uses the fernie lodging company for the property rentals. BOTH Companies are fantastic to deal with!!! Come prepared with some of your comforts from home if you require... Like quality knives, cleaning supplies, throw blankets etc. We were staying for an extended stay, and lugged a lot of stuff with us, but it was worth it. The town of fernie is conveniently located if you need anything.
Snow Creek Cabin 504
Beautiful cabin right on the hill with a beautiful view. Cabin can sleep 12 but we were seven adults (kids ranging from 16 - 22) and it worked out perfectly. Loved the huge kitchen, kitchen table, fireplace, deck with gas bbq, hot tub... just overall a great comfortable stay. Everyone we dealt with in booking the cabin were friendly and wonderful to deal with. Can't wait to go back!
Beware the Bait and Switch!!!!!!
My wife and I have been loyal RCR members for two decades. Our usual property at Fernie for our two-or-three times a year getaway was booked (we are Calgary locals). We decided to try Snow Creek. Way back in October we booked a one-bedroom suite for January dates. Paid in full, including cancellation insurance. I just received a call from RCR that the "property is no longer available" due to the owner of the condo changing their minds about releasing the dates. We were offered an inferior studio suite, which I declined. Despite the RCR agent promising to get back to me almost immediately regarding alternatives, I have yet to hear anything as of several hours later. My wife is an operating room nurse, and has to book vacation months in advance. My situation, as the owner of an engineering company is not much better. This is entirely unacceptable, if not illegal.
