Was spoken to very rudely. There was a lot of miscommunication from front desk management.
I communicated with the hotel staff well ahead in time letting them know that I will be having people over for my birthday. Later that night, one of the managers came to my room and asked my guests to leave or they'd call the cops. I was given no warning before this, the noise policy wasn't communicated to me. And I felt insulted in front of my guests. Had they warned us before or asked me to have my guests leave politely, I'd have no issue doing so anyway. I was very disappointed in the way it was communicated to me considering Fairmont's reputation. I spoke with the manager the same night after my guests had left and she said there were no notes in the system about me bringing my guests even though I had called three times before to make sure that it was ok. What's even surprising is that the morning manager read those same notes and had a different story and that the note said that I will have guests for an hour. I felt like was being mislead in that whole situation just because now they were trying to cover their mistake/internal miscommunication. Even while I was trying to explain my situation, I literally felt the need to speak over what the morning manager was saying because she kept going on with her record about policies barely trying to show any empathy or trying to see where I'm coming from. I requested for a refund which they were able to refund me half of my stay but I can not believe that I had to struggle for that since I did not feel like it was worth paying the amount that I did. I've stayed in hotels before and this definitely did not seem like a 4-star hotel stay.
Fairmont Waterfront fantastic stay !
Fabulous stay at the Fairmont Waterfront. Thank you to Lucas for your incredible service and attention to the details that matter. First trip since the beginning of the pandemic started and it was better than ever.
Amazing hotel and team
Room fantastic, concierge (Lucas and Silema) were incredible and went beyond their duties to help before, during and after our stay. The food is also very good and location is perfect with great views over bay and Stanley park. I would go back in a heart beat.
Great location, no free wi-fi
Enjoyable 1-night stay at the beginning of our vacation. Early check-in was greatly appreciated. Fantastic food at the restaurant. But, like many high-end hotels, Fairmont still doesn't get technology, communications, and customer service! Wi-fi in the 21st century is like electricity or running water! It's expected as part of a stay. It's expected to be FREE! Build it into your room cost and charge me! Please! But don't ask me to pay $14.95/day for Wi-fi.
Best of Vancouver
Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in October 2021. Beautiful hotel, very friendly staff, great restaurant. Felt very safe and comfortable. They gave us a corner room so we had a bit of a view of the harbour. The location is also great - right across the street from Canada Place. I was a bit taken aback when I went into the bathroom and found the toilet facing a floor-to-ceiling window. Also no bathtub. Show was very large, however. Also was a bit disappointed that on the second day of our stay, no one came to make up the room. When I asked about it, they said I would have to have scheduled it. Never heard of that before in all the hotels we've ever stayed in. Not sure if that is standard for that hotel or if this is some sort of Covid rule. For what one pays to stay in a hotel these days, you'd expect someone to come and make the bed, bring fresh towels, take away garbage and replace coffee pods. We ate in the restaurant one night and it was really good. Surprised at the amount of food - was expecting nouvelle cuisine but given good-size portions. Have to say the waiter, Gabriel, was such a delight and very attentive. We had drinks in the bar on the second day and enjoyed talking to the bartender (didn't get his name). Very friendly staff all around. Even the valet/parking guy at the entrance was great - pointed out that we could leave our vehicle there until 6 p.m. on the day of check-out which really saved us some hassle as we had business downtown and were worried about where we'd park. Left the car there and took a cab. It was easier. All in all, it was really a great place to stay. I'd definitely recommend it.
