…..is the paradigm at the Wickaninnish Inn. This is partially caused by the difficulty in getting there – nothing is worth having if it comes too easily. It is also caused by the location and the weather, so if you like remoteness it is greatly helpful and if, in the winter, you like it wet, that helps as well. The wet comes as mist, fog, drizzle, light rain, rain, heavy rain, torrential rain and everything in between and beyond. The staff are the best kind, friendly but unobtrusive, thoughtful and discreet. The café and restaurant are well-staffed and well-stocked and though the décor has been described as rustic, it is hardly unsophisticated, merely appropriate use of local materials that are weathering well and fondly cared for. I’m struggling here to find any note of criticism, helpful or otherwise, so I had better just leave it at that……thank you so much for yet another wonderfully wet visit.
we stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and it was awesome. the food in the restaurant was incredible. views at the hotel also incredible. well worth the time/cost to drive to tofino while on vancouver island. went whale watching. went bear watching. overall experience was great. highly recommend.
Our family has been to Tofino almost very year. The “Wick” is the best of the best. In November (2019) I needed some time to myself, and took my cocker spaniel to the “Wick” for 3 days. The weather was better than I expected (although I was prepared for storms) and I (with my dog) spent 6 - 8 hours each day on the SPECTACULAR beach. The rooms are sublime and the dining room is EXCEPTIONAL. If you want the “best of the best” in Tofino, stay at the Wickaninnish Inn.
The BEST in so many ways
We planned this trip in August, sitting in a room at Seattle Cancer Care, deciding that after such an insane year we would need a respite and a friend told me about the Christmas package at the Wickaninnish Inn. We booked it then and are just experiencing it now. Wonderful hotel; excellent food; and amazing views. We have not explored the area at all because we spend most of our day sitting in big chairs looking out at the ocean. We do take long walks too even in the rain and the spa is lovely for a massage. But it is the hotel and its staff that shine. The package came with a live tree and ornaments to decorate it with and a stocking filled with gifts and brunch every day and special drinks and a very delicious dinner. We will try to come again maybe in a different season. If you have the chance put this on a bucket list and plan on relaxing
Could be perfect....
Overall very good, but disappointed with children and babies in the dining room in the evening. A hotel at this level, and cost, should not expect diners to have to put up with crying babies and kids running around at 9 pm
