Great Get Away
My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary at Long Beach Lodge Resort. A wonderful stay. Great food. Lovely beach walks in all weather and time to relax in front of the fire with a glass of wine, watching the surf or reading. Recommend it to all
Cox Beach Retreat
Long Beach Lodge has long been a favourite place to stay, and restricted travel because of the pandemic spurred us to explore our "own backyard" this year. Tofino had to be on the list!. We chose Long Beach Lodge because of its proximity to Cox Bay Beach, and we are so pleased we did, as it was the only beach we could walk on every day because of high tides everywhere else. We upgraded our BC Ferries reservation to an ocean facing room, and on the one wet day we had we could dry off by the fire and still enjoy the sound of the ocean and the waves pounding over the rocks. Breakfasts in the great room were delicious and Sandra provided us excellent service. As did Micael( spelling??) at the restaurant entrance. In fact all the staff were eager to please and always acknowledged us when we were out and about. Our only disappointment was that the Great Room had changed to accommodate a larger restaurant area with better spacing. But we understand why this was necessary and our room compensated for the lack of comfortable seating space in what was the lounge.
We loved our penthouse room! We really enjoyed our stay! Not to be critical but the food and menu could be greatly improved! The road closure was a big nuisance as we were detained for an extra 2 hours. We left at 9 to be sure to get through the road closure before the 11am closure! This is not he hotel’s fault!!
Fantastic Ocean View!
We had a beach front, second floor room with two beds (of which there are only two in the hotel). With the door open, we could hear the waves crashing in Cox Bay from our room and spent most of our time with the patio door open to enjoy the wonderful sound. The fireplace and arm chairs were lovely and came in very useful and the beds were very comfortable. We had some minor mechanical issues with our room, all of which were fixed promptly and without issue. The restaurant food was excellent too, highly recommend dinner here and the hot chocolate at the surf club is one of the best I've ever had. A wonderful trip, would absolutely recommend it.
All in all this was a getaway long to be remembered. Living in the Sunny Okanagan has a certain charm but over time you get accustomed to it. Arriving and seeing the view from our patio was a breath of fresh air to our souls. There is so much to compliment. The view, the rooms, the dining, the staff (SO VERY FRIENDLY). I loved the 3 fire pits to sit around at night. So very little to offer for critical feedback. However, since it appears that your resort strives for excellence I will offer up a small bit of criticism. The in room coffee is horrible. (Sorry) We are early risers and to wait till 8 am to grab any sort of delicious coffee or pastry or bagel or fruit in the morning was a bit annoying. This may not make sense logistically but have you considered an early riser station near the kitchen/dining room where guests could grab a coffee or fruit or donut or pastry to tie them over? Just a thought. Other than that, my compliments to the staff and the resort. We will be back one day. :)
