Older building needs updating.
I stayed at the Laurel Point for one night. I had an indoor cat with me, which the hotel graciously allowed for $30 extra per night. Total room cost, including the cat, the parking fee at the hotel ($17 per night), plus taxes, was $267 for one night. All of the staff were excellent, and couldn't do enough for me despite the challenges of working with the public during a pandemic. The mattress was very old, I could feel the springs and it sagged in several places. I wound up putting a sheet and blanket on the settee, at least it was comfortable. The worst part of my stay was the air conditioning. For some reason, the room never cooled down, despite the temperature outside being quite cool. I ran the air conditioner and fan (also very ancient), but they were too noisy for sleeping. Also, I could hear the neighbour's fan running all night, VERY loud. The air conditioning system desperately needs replacing. The pool was nice, but too warm!
We booked five nights at the Laurel Point and were not disappointed. View of the harbor was lovely, watching all the activities on the water. The protocols under Covid were well done. Staff were friendly and helpful. Recommend !
Lovely spot to go - we paid the little extra to have a room with a balcony that you had chairs - was wonderful as it also had the evening sun and view of the water. Had difficulties with the heat / cooling of our room which didn't get fixed while there. Breakfast was lovely and reasonably priced, dinner was not as impressive, very artsy fancy and small portions but pricey. Staff were wonderful and room was very large and the bed comfy. Also very quiet - rarely heard any other guests.
B&B package - breakfast bad/inconsistent
The room (Laurel Wing) was super nice. Beautiful view and refreshing sea air coming straight in from the patio door. The concrete on the patio deck (Room 213) was stained - needs to be power washed/ painted. There is no microwave in the room and the coffee maker barely heated up water to make tea in the room, but a microwave was delivered promptly when requested from the front desk. The room does come with a small fridge, plus extended TV channels which was nice when it was raining the first day of our wknd. get away. The pool does NOT have a whirlpool/hot tub/or sauna - big disappointment! I had heard there were recent renovations so those should have been added. Also, the small gift shop which was super nice is no longer there. The BC Resident B&B package was a poor deal because the Pointe breakfast was of dismal quality overall: rubbery scrambled egg (the 2nd AM); dry, thin brown toast (tasted stale even though buttered!); very greasy home fries - strange orange colour; chintzy roast tomatoes - one miniscule tomato slice on each plate (both mornings); plus overcooked dried out bacon (the 2nd morning. The bacon was good and cooked perfectly our first AM there). The multi-grain toast option was good - with a nice, dark quality bread, and the continental breakfast was good with ample fresh fruit, except for the muffin, very cold - still unthawing! The server did not ask if wanted the muffin heated. Also, the yogurt was sickly sweet and watery and of a teensy portion. In addition, the omelet was not one of the choices for the B&B package. We used to stay here in the past but this was our first stay in 5 years and sadly the quality was downhill compared to the uphill price tag. The $264 per night B&B package should definitely come with a consistent quality breakfast and a whirlpool/sauna in the pool area.
Very Pleasant Weekend Stay
I needed a two-night accommodation for a quick weekend getaway and the Inn at Laurel Point certainly did not disappoint! Despite being in the midst of an extensive renovation at the time, my time there was extremely comfortable and pleasant. The hotel staff are second to none in terms of friendliness and service. The front desk/lobby area was under renovation so the check-in space was moved to a temporary location but signage was prevalent and it was easy to access. Despite the reno work being done, there was no noise disruption and it did not affect my stay in any way. The hotel is located in a quiet location, perfectly tucked away from the busiest part of the city, yet within easy walking distance of many major attractions and restaurants. I would not hesitate to recommend the Inn at Laurel Point to anyone heading to Victoria.
