Could not be better

My wife and I are very fortunate to travel to some very spectacular 4 and 5 star resorts, none is better than the Fogo Island Inn. The staff members are so incredibly genuine and we don't get the feeling that they are trained to be that way, they just are, and if you met them on a street your reception would be the same. Their attention to detail is unmatched. The rooms, the food the recreation activities are incredible. We would go back in a heartbeat.

Amazing, amazing, amazing!

What an amazing, unique, and special place! Spent a week at the Fogo Island Inn, celebrating our 30th anniversary. Despite high expectations from reading other reviews, the Fogo Island Inn still far exceeded even those very high expectations. The food was fantastic, the setting breathtaking, the ambiance understated luxury, and the staff amazing in trying to anticipate and meet all of the guests needs. Hated to leave, look forward to returning. Worth the trip.

AMAZING

I set foot on the western shores of Newfoundland some 15 years ago. I indeed come from away. I am from a small city in the Southwestern United States. I had never traveled, much less knew what ever existed in this corner of the planet. The moment I set foot on this island, the cold winter breeze engulfed me… yet inexplicably, I was immediately wrapped in comfort. My arrival at Fogo Island Inn fell remarkably in line with my initial experience of Newfoundland. The People... I was met by an extremely warm staff and immediately made to feel at home. The kind smiles, the hand-written thank you notes, the personalized service requests do not go unnoticed. The Food... Elegant and abundant, the cuisine was spectacular. In addition, the crab feast, afternoon tea… and my favorite, the simple bagged lunch for the road upon our departure, all embodied the spirit and culture of Newfoundland. This experience cannot be overlooked. The Land... Majestic, Magnificent, and Breathtaking, as was the architectural splendor of the Inn itself, and again, deserves admiration, acknowledgement and appreciation. These relevant illustrations do not paint the entire picture of Fogo Island Inn. However, Fogo Island Inn has captured the warmth of the people, the essence of the cuisine, and is set on top of one of the most majestic corners of the planet. The experience of Newfoundland has been masterfully woven into Fogo Island Inn. At Fogo Island Inn, I arrived a stranger and left as family.

Fogo inn

Always wanted to see this talked about Inn and Island. People were very nice. Inn very nice and very organic. Only negative was a $500 Thanksgiving surcharge for Thanksgiving dinner and we checked out Sunday. Many people were 2nd, 3rd, 4 th timers modtly from the US which makes sense considering the exchange. I have travelled a lot and $2500 a night was a bit over the top for what you get!

Go go to Fogo!

After returning from our honeymoon in Newfoundland and Nova Scotia, we are left with life long memories of pure amazement and bliss. Planning for over a year- we embarked on our east coast adventure. We were awe inspired at the intensity of the fall colours and warm sunshine for the drive from Gander to Farewell ferry. Our arrival at the Fogo Island inn was like visiting grandma’s house for a celebration. Colleen greeted us with open arms- the smells of fresh baked bread and ginger cookies lingered in the welcome area. The Atlantic Ocean was pounding outside the glass walls, creating surges of spray upon the shore. Multiple meet and greet conversations with the staff were so welcoming. Our room was incredible. The architectural design of the Inn and locally created furniture and art were stunning. Nova Scotian sparkling wine and delicious snacks of fresh bread, butter and molasses set the tone for three days of being perfectly spoiled in the most subtle way. Embodied by the passion of Fogo emanates from the land, sea and people. We had done extensive research about the Shorefast foundation and vision of Zita Cobb. In a nutshell- to create opportunities for Newfoundlanders to return home and take pride in their history, art, design and lifestyle. Todd Saunders architectural design of the Inn and artist cottages is so unique and puts a smile upon your face. We were lucky to meet both Todd and Zita, who welcomed us and our many questions about all things Fogo. Tracey, Sandy , Brie, Dacha, Mike and all staff went out of their way to make our experience so special. To be a guest at the Inn is private and a privilege. From the hot tubs out looking the ocean, to the stunning saunas and sitting areas- you really feel like the place is all yours. Guests are friendly, locals happy, and support staff at the wood shop went out of their way to accommodate us. The food is amazing. I can’t sum up what three days of eating creative, beautiful and complex simplicity. It looks and tastes like a very unique culinary experience. Thank you Fogo island - it was worth every penny and more. Can’t wait to return to see you all again. We loved being “come from away’s” are very happy customers.
