Our Mountain Retreat if Choice
The Banff Springs has become our favoured getaway during the past year. It is always elegant, always beautiful no matter the season. And the quality of their food and beverage options has skyrocketed! 1888, Castellos, Rundle Lounge ... all would please any foodie or cocktails fan.
A True Mountain Castle
No matter what brings you to Banff National Park, you Must at least visit this truly iconic hotel. If you have the opportunity to stay here, well, thats even better. Brace yourself for a royal treatment. The views, the grounds, the heritage and history here is absolutely amazing. Just like their staff. You will not regret your stay here. Even during these difficult covid times the staff have gone above and beyond to make your stay as safe as possible.
If you are debating staying here- don’t debate it any more- just book it! It is worth it in every way- the food, the atmosphere, the pool! You truly don’t need to leave if you didn’t want to! We stayed for 2 nights and wish we had more time. Great location close to bows falls and about a 10 minute walk to the main strip! Loved rumble bar for a pre dinner cocktail and the vermillion room for dinner was 5 stars!
Amazing Stay at the Banff Springs
My husband and I go t married at the Banff Springs Hotel 24 years ago and, living in Calgary, we try to go back every year or two for a couple day stay. If we can't do a full stay, we at least come out for a nice lunch, walk around the grounds, dinner, then head home. With all the stress and craziness with Covid this year and the fact that businesses were really suffering we wanted to support them as much as we could, those places we love. The Banff Springs had offered a really good rate for Alberta residents so we took advantage of that and booked two stays, one in July and one in August of 2020. This is the review of our July stay. I had been put in touch with Kane Shepetunko, Reservations Manager at the hotel and as we are Accor Platinum members we do get room upgrades when available. Shane was able to put us into a really lovely suite, room 347. It was at the end of the hall and had an incredible view from two directions depending on what window you looked out from. It was a lovely suite with a living area, good sized bathroom and spacious bedroom. We also had a bottle of wine and chocolates on arrival ( thank you so much for that). It was a suite at the end of the hall so it was very quiet and also afforded us two views from different windows. We had a small balcony that was accessible from a door at the end of our hallway by the wardrobe area.
Castle in the Rockies
A true Canadian Icon! The Castle in the Rockies is nestled back from the town of Banff along the Spray River and the roaring Bow Falls giving it some of the best views in the Banff area. The historic Hotel has a long history from opening in 1888 by the Canadian Pacific Railway, going through several renovations and remodels to its current state which is absolutely beautiful! Upon arrival you’re greeted by the Valet who try to get you to stop gazing at this iconic Hotel and move you to the check in process. The staff at check in are quick, professional and eager to your vacation started. We’ve stayed in several room categories from the Stanley Thompson wing, the main tower, gold floor, suites and sub-penthouse. Each room offers a unique warmth and charm with views that never grow old. The Gold Floor offers a lounge area with appetizers and drinks for guests on that floor and category, it’s worth the upgrade if you’re looking for more of a pampered service. The Hotel as several amenities from boutique shops and services on the main level, to ample lounges, sitting area’s and places to take in the beauty of the Hotel. The Willow Stream Spa is one of the best we’ve encountered with 3 waterfall treatment pools, indoor mineral pool and outdoor whirlpool. Relax in the pools before or after your treatment to ensure you take full advantage of your time in the Spa. The main Pool is a lot of fun for everyone, but our family enjoys the outdoor heated pool year-round. There is a small canteen offering snacks and drinks, so you don’t need to leave the area unless you want. Banff Springs offers several amazing restaurants to dine at. Chop 1888 and Castello are amongst our favourites. We’ve had exceptional service at both, and the meals are always 5 Star quality. You could spend hours walking around the Hotel and taking in its history, stop at the many lounges for a cocktail or our favourite Grapes which is cozy Wine Bar offering tapa’s style plates, charcuterie and wines from all over the World. Banff Springs location allows for easy access to town 5 min away, 15 min to Norquay Ski area, 25 min to Sunshine Ski area and 50 min to Lake Louise Ski area. In the Summer take the Banff Gondola to gain access to 360 views of the Rocky Mountains and enjoy a cocktail or lunch on one of the Patios. The Banff Springs Golf Course is 5 min from the Hotel and the course provides some of the best Mountain & River views to take your breath away while Golfing. The Hotel is unique and one of a kind. If you’re planning to visit Alberta, this destination needs to be on your list!
