Wonderful spring getaway in an amazing setting!
We recently stayed at the Pyramid Lake Resort for an extended weekend getaway and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff were cheerful and helpful, the setting is breathtaking and the location is just a short drive from the townsite. The room was clean and equipped with a small fridge and microwave so that you can bring your own food and avoid restaurants during the pandemic. Having said that, we ordered food from Jasper Brew House and it was delivered to the room in no time! The highlight of our stay was sitting on the balcony overlooking Pyramid lake and the mountains, as well as the many hiking trails at the doorstep of the resort. I highly recommend staying here for a little retreat to nature, you won't regret it!
A hidden gem just 6 km from Jasper
The Pines restaurant is my new favorite restaurant near Jasper with delicious and innovative dishes and great service from Catherine. I had lunch there, smoked duck club sandwich with mâche salad with an anti-mule cocktail. I went back for Easter brunch and it was a culinary delight.
Disappointed, annoyed..................and TIRED
I was fairly disappointed with my stay especially for the price I paid per night - $260. So my two nights ended up costing $600 with taxes and pet charges. Not cheap. Based off my experience, I will probably never come back to this hotel again. Here's why: This is the second night during which I did not get proper sleep. The first night a group of people came back after midnight and made a bunch of noise getting out of their cars, talking, slamming doors. Very inconsiderate. I don't understand why people can't be more aware of their actions. Which brings me to the people staying in the room under me. Both mornings the racket started slightly before 7am and continue for the next hour or more. Drawers and doors banging, kids running back and forth across the room..........who needs to make that much noise when they're getting ready? Honestly! Once again, mind boggling that these people are so clueless about how disruptive they are to others. Unfortunately, this hotel is old and not very soundproof - the walls are thin, people are loud, the bathroom pipes will enable you to get to know your neighbour's bladder schedule, and the vibrations from doors slamming make for an aggressive but effective alarm clock. To top it all off, as I am typing this, there is a guy running around with a little snowplow bobcat outside the building doing absolutely nothing but making a bunch of noise at 8:30am. I am not against road maintenance, but when people come here to relax, please use some common sense and save the road scraping and sanding until mid-day when everyone is out doing activities and the parking lot is somewhat empty so that you can optimize your work and effort. In making such a fuss about noise, I only want to highlight this to other noise sensitive travellers that may shockingly expect some peace and quiet, and even more absurdly, a good night's sleep in a mountain oasis for $300/night. Another thing that bothered me is the overuse of salt on the parking lot and steps leading to the buildings. Being a pet friendly hotel in the middle of a pristine location, you'd think that they would find a better way to mitigate the risks of slippery ice and snow patches. I am not going to speak to how "harmless" the salt that they use is as I do not know, but a blue/green parking lot doesn't look tasteful. Save those colours for the lake in the summer. The rooms could be cleaned a bit better. Dust along baseboards, carpets smell like old shoes and unwashed feet. The socket didn't work by my night stand and the window crank came off in my hand when I opened the window in the bathroom. This hotel is old and some upgrading especially for what they charge per night. The rooms are nothing spectacular. Just old furniture and carpet with a tv and fireplace. I shudder to think what the rooms looked like before some of these recent "upgrades" that a couple of travellers mentioned in other reviews. On a positive note, the views were beautiful, the restaurant had good food, and the service was great. Also, the internet worked fine for me. This is a good place for families and kids. Unfortunately, as I stated previously, I will not return. I am currently packing up to get out of here asap and home for some rest.
Views are amazing! We went during the freezing temperatures in February 2021 but were able to get out for some walks and enjoy the pyramid island close-by and the skating rink created on the lake. The staff at the front desk were polite and informative. Due to covid-19 rooms were not being regularly cleaned during the stay which was fine. On our arrival there was a huge mess on the balcony and someone came and cleaned it up for us promptly (would've been nice if it was clean prior to our check in though). Also it takes quite some time to get in touch with someone from the front desk when calling from the room. Room was nice and cozy and we really enjoyed the fireplace. It would be ideal if they would put a second chair in the room as well. Bed was super comfy and views were great from the balcony! Bathroom was a little small and could use some renovations. Unfortunately the water pipes were frozen one of our mornings there but the staff were able to quickly get that working again. The restaurant at the hotel was phenomenal! The hot tub, sauna and exercise centre were all closed due to covid. Overall it was a little pricey for what was being offered but due to the views and restaurant we would consider coming back in the summer for another quick little weekend getaway.
Excellent family stay!
Hi! We went to Pyramid Lake Resort for little winter family vacations. Very nice hotel with absolutely beautiful winter view. Ice ring in front of the resort. Lots of walking and hiking options around the hotel. Fire during the evening... and during the afternoon on request! We loved our Whistler suite. Separate, but small room with television. Fully-equiped kitchenette, with small refrigerator, heating surfaces and all the necessary. Renovated suite, but still has nice rustic look. We could not try all the facilities because of COVID (outdoor pool, gym, etc.). We would still strongly recommend this hotel. You can expect a 10-minutes drive from Jasper. You might see some deers on the road! In summary, excellent winter vacations for the four of us, including a 14-months old baby and little dog!
