Beautiful alpine feeling, clean and comfortable
Front end service was above amazing and friendly, accommodated all of our needs. We were able to upgrade to a one bedroom, which has a beautiful living area, microwave, fridge, coffee and cups and plates, can opener etc. Room was very clean, (no cleaning service during covid) which was fine, they offered extra towels. The spa was also closed but looks really cool. They offer a free breakfast which was satisfying. The "Chilli's" attached also affered very clean safe service with a friendly smile.
I will first start this off by saying my family has always wanted to stay at the fox because of the beautiful spa facilities and the location. However I was under the impression the jacuzzi would be open and it was not. I will try to recount the details in chronological order so as to provide an extensive account of our stay here, and how it very rapidly went downhill. When we arrived we were given two “queen” rooms that we had requested, but upon entering the rooms the beds were a twin at best and topped with only one substantial pillow that wasn’t at all comfortable to sleep on. The rooms are small but standard yet there is no tea or coffee in the rooms, no iron or ironing board (you will have to ask for these) and the wallpaper is peeling off the walls in the bathroom. Furthermore, there is no air conditioning in the rooms and the windows don’t open so you have no ability to get fresh air when the room is 100 degrees. Last thing about the rooms is that the blinds don’t properly shut so there is about a 2 inch gap at the bottom where light shines through. Subsequently, we complained because we felt that we were being overcharged for what we had received. We were met with rudeness and told to cancel our reservation and move hotels or, pay even more money and upgrade. I have never had that said to me in my life and so we searched for other hotels in the area but by that time it was 6pm and nothing was available. The last thing that was just rather annoying was the breakfast. Breakfast is in the restaurant in the hotel which is open at night and packed with people. Given that, you would think breakfast wouldn’t be a “grab and go” mediocre sandwich but we were sadly mistaken. Overall I would not at all recommend staying in this hotel, for the quality of the rooms and the location pay and extra $50 and stay somewhere else.
I’ll be back in 2 weeks for the rest of my work and will be staying here.the staff are amazing, the king suite is absolutely perfect for an extended stay. The continental breakfast during coved was absolutely perfect, when most hotels just aren’t doing it right now at all. The Chillis downstairs is great for dinner of just a bevy after work. I really hope the pool is allowed to be open next time I come as it looks amazing!!!!
Relaxing butLots of Stairs
We spent two nights here and overall enjoyed our stay. While there is an elevator from the parking level to the various floors, if you have an outside facing room that does not really help. We found two sets of stairs needed to be climbed to get anything in and out of the room. It's only an issue because we have a large stroller for two toddlers. The room is also on two levels and there is no effective way to keep small kids from climbing up and down. This was a surprise to us upon arrival and were told there were no single floor rooms we could switch two. Beds were comfortable and with two levels comes two TVs which allows for kids and adults to have separate viewing when needed. Due to COVID the pool/spa was closed which was another big blow for us. We'd been looking forward to using their unique pool assuming they had a way to manage distancing issues. Since it was closed during our stay I assume there is not practical way to open it and remain safe. Cleaning staff also do not enter your room while you are there which again makes sense but we had to figure that out on our own. We'll probably try The Fox again some day when things are more back to normal.
We stayed for 7 days early March, the room and hotel are fantastic.... just a shame about some of the staff!! we had a king suite... being a resident at the hotel why do i have to "wait" for table? i found a table in the bar, and was told i had to vacate due to the waiting list!! 24 mins and no one sat there, i think residents should have priority over walk ins! the lady was auite rude when i aired by opinions about sitting at and empty table in the bar... the bar should be a bar! and not and extension of Chilis... was decidedly miffed to say the least... the room was fab!! will be back ... hopefully the chaotic table fiasco will be sorted ....
