A get away from the outside world
Ask what amenities there are in each room type. Families may want a mini fridge for yogurt and milk for the little ones. A tv, for me is important to be updated on the news. Location is away from the Lake Louise village, and is semi-secluded - so be prepared for a bit of seclusion. The lounge is excellent, and very well stocked with premium spirits, and is very cozy when sitting by the giant fire place. It's great for couples, those who want peace and quiet, and newly weds who just want to get away from the noise of a ski town like Banff. I'll use the Deer Lodge hotel again.
Cozy, historic lodge is still a gem!
Deer Lodge is often overlooked by people going to the Chateau or the hotels "in town" at Lake Louise. True, the pre-renovation rooms are old and small, but that's part of the charm. We had two connecting rooms, one with 2 single beds, which was perfect for our family. Plus, we were right next door to a shared lounge area where we could play cards, take our tea, etc. The room was cozy and appointed well with feather duvets and nice bathroom amenities. The staff does everything they can to make sure you are welcome and comfortable. Other than tearing the place down and rebuilding (which I hear is in the plans), the historic lodge can't really be improved and is a bargain compared to other options. I'd suggest going before it gets rebuilt and becomes another prohibitively expensive hotel in the Rockies.
Saw this place on Instagram 2 years ago and have wanted to stay here ever since, finally did and it lived up to all expectations. Loved it so much! Great having a shuttle to the slopes and so close to the lake, will definitely return
Deer Lodge was a Disappointment
We stayed for one night with our two kids at Deer Lodge last weekend and were not happy with the quality of accommodation. Rooms were small, extremely dated, carpets were stained and dirty, towels were obviously very old as they were scratchy and grey white. The worst part was the walls were paper thin between rooms. We were woken up to a loud conversation in the next room and had to call front desk to ask them to quiet down. Rooms offered only double beds not queen or king size so we had a cot brought in that was so old and uncomfortable that our kids opted to sleep on mattress on floor. Restaurant was ok, many items on menu were not available, service was good. We had heard restaurant was fantastic so we were expecting high quality. Front desk staff and restaurant staff were friendly. Building us very old which is part of its charm however needs a major renovation overhaul fir the price its charging per night.
Needs a renovation in the rooms
Rooms too small and not serviced Stairs not maintained to hot tub Hot tub area slippery without salt to prevent falls Expensive for what you get Live the liscation but not the services there were issues with maintenance
