My vacation saved by Juliana
Excellent location and view from Room 601. Perfect for Carnival, clubs, restaurants and all. The elevators malfunctioned and stopped at multiple floors for no reason (this happened the entire 3 weeks I was there). I had some issues but Juliana at Front Desk saved my vacation. If I ever win the lottery, I will gladly give her a million dollars.
Third stay at this friendly hotel.
Let me just say I love this hotel, I have stayed here 3 times already for the past 3 years, each time about 10 or 11 days so all in all about a months time. I have already booked my next trip and can't wait! The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful, even when I am yelling and screaming in the lobby at them LOL they are very calm, understanding and helpful. The one big problem I have is the electronic key which almost on a daily basis stops working. So you go up to your room and try to open the door and it doesn't open. So you have to go back down to the lobby to get it set again but if you get there during a busy part of the day like check in time our check out time the lines can be long and if you get on a line you might have to wait 30 minutes or more, this is unacceptable. So when this happens to me and it happens every day I jump up and down and get in front of the line. As you can imagine nobody likes that, the people behind the desk in the reception tell me to get in back of the line and I say NO, I'm not waiting fix my key now this is your problem not mine. So I usually get my way as the people who work the reception are very gracious but it's not a pretty scene. So I have a suggestion for the hotel to have a seperate line just for fixing the electronic key and it should be a priority, when your key doesn't work you go on that line and first available receptionist comes and fixes your key, this would save many frustrations. Ok so as others reported here the hotel is over 20 years old and shows it but for me this is not a show stopper, the hotel does have a great location and I always get the front ocean view suite with the huge balcony all for less than 200 dollars a day this is a tremendous bargain, this room with it's size, it's position, it's view is worth at least twice more. So yes a little paint of newer furniture is not really a problem for me because this hotel represents a great value especially if you choose the right room, you need to choose wisely. As I said before I've stayed there total about a months time now and the hotel staff is starting to recognize me, security comes up and gives me a warming greeting, the bellman says welcome back and even the people who work at the reception who I yell at and apologize to all the time still say hello to me LOL in a very nice warm way. So I am returning to this hotel as I just got a great rate for the ocean front suite, looking at something whether it's painted or not is unimportant. The rooms are kept clean, the room maids work very hard, I converse with them regularly and they are very nice and work very hard, the staff at the hotell all work very hard.
Such a dirty and bad maintained hotel
Booked the most expensive room to get a luxury night, looked nice on the pictures but terrible in real life. Everything in the room was really worn out, dirty, moldy, broken, and the mirror above the bed had massive scratches and sticker marks. The room smelled weird even with the bathroom fan on 24/7. Pool area, it's bathroom and showers as well as thw fitness area didnt feel clean at all. The only nice in the room was the sheets and the view from the balcony. Breakfast was okay, coffee from a machine - not so good.
Great Location, Average Accomodations
We stayed at Pestana Rio Atlantica for a week. The location is great. Walk across the street to Copacabana beach; get on the running/bicycle path for some exercise; or grab a cab or Uber to get anywhere. The facility offers a very nice breakfast buffet daily. The pool area is lovely, and has a fantastic view of the beach. Our room was a 1 BR that faced the back alley. The sliding door opened, but there was no balcony to speak of. The mattress felt like it was 50 years old. The seating in the 'living area' was one desk chair on wheels, a futon, and a single bed. The outlets at the desk did not work, nor did the floor lamp, so doing anything at the desk was not practical. Let's face it, though, you travel for the travel - not for the room. It was adequate, clean, safe, and convenient. We enjoyed our stay in Rio.
Excelent location deserved better service
The hotel has an excelent location opposite the ocean. The rooftop has a good pool and an amazing view. However, the service and the facilities do not match either the rating or the location. There are bugs in the rooms, the lobby area is uncomfortable and the furniture needs replacement. At a defined time in the evening, the bug curtains are closed and the guests asked to leave.
