Copacabana Palace - Rio de Janeiro - indeed exquisite
You cannot be in Rio de Janeiro without staying at least for one night at this hotel. You feel history in every corner. Although the rooms are not contemporary furnished, they are very comfortable and spacious. The front desk Staff is very helpful and speak good English. Although the food provided by the hotel is very delicious, but I recommend you venture out and eat outside the hotel. The hotel location is one of its greatest asset, Cabo cabana beach is right outside, the hotel can provide you with chairs and umbrella to enjoy the amazing water and comfortable weather.
A luxurious one-night stay.
Belmont Copacabana Palace offers ultimate comfort, impeccable service and excellent cuisine. We felt completely pampered during our brief stay. The only negative thing is that it gets very congested around the pool area, where people eat, drink, swim and socialize. Special thanks to Ricardo Giglio, the front desk shift leader, for his attention, assistance with Uber, bike rental, etc.
This has quickly become one of (if not my number 1) my favorite hotels in the world! Not only does it have an amazing history, but everything about the hotel is 5-stars (if not 6 stars!). The rooms are great and quiet, the pool has a great vibe, and the staff is just superb! From the moment you walk in the front doors you are treated with the utmost respect and due-diligence. Special shout out to Amanda who helped check me in as well as put up with all of my questions and requests while I was staying there! NO request is too big for this team - they will help you with anything you need! They even were able to get my special lotion for my new tattoo at 8:00 PM! (thank you Thaissa and Manu!!!) There are tons of hotels in Copa to stay at but don't even consider them! This hotel might be more than them but there's a reason. You will not be disappointed at all! It's worth every single penny to stay at this hotel. The history alone is worth the cost. Another great feature is their breakfast - huge buffet every day with everything you could ever want. I'm making another trip to Brazil in 2 months and have already booked my room for another stay at this hotel. There are no words to describe how amazing this hotel is! Look no further when booking a hotel in Copa - this is where you want to stay!! I guarantee you will not be disappointed.
Not bad, not great either
In short, I would have expected more from a Belmond property. The hotel is in a great location, but it is certainly showing its age and, sadly, service was just OK. Rooms are typical of a grand property way past its prime. I like the sober but classy style, but some things just don’t cut it: air conditioning is a little noisy, some items of furniture are chipped, mattress is just old. I was staying in a beach facing suite and I must say that the views are beautiful and sound proofing rather good. I didn’t particularly like the food and beverage options. I don’t know if it was closed when I was there (there was a big party in the front part of the building), but the hotel doesn’t appear to have a proper bar lounge where one can get an evening drink: just the main restaurant/bistrot. This is a bit of a squalid outlet, facing the pool, which also hosts the mediocre breakfast buffet. Service was just OK. Not personalised in the slightest, but then again it’s a big property. A little underwhelming overall.
Legendary Hotel which never disappoints
This is one of our favourite hotels in the world. Always a warm welcome from first arrival at the front entrance to check-in, bellboys, restaurant and housekeeping staff. This hotel has always been about luxury and the staff who maintain the high standards expected. Our sea view suite in the annex was beautiful with housekeeping service for whom nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast is legendary in this Hotel and a couple of dinners taken in the MEE asian fusion restaurant were outstanding. We did, unfortunately, have a problem on departure. Our hotel car driver chose a normally quicker route to the airport via a long tunnel in which we got stuck for over two hours. The driver waited at the aiport while we checked on our London flight which unfortunately had closed. Our driver took us back to the hotel for whom nothing was too much trouble and although by now it was late evening, found us another suite for the additional night. The next day 'Michael' of Guest Relations ensured that we had all of the paperwork needed, even to the extent of an official Hotel letter of explanation of the circumstances to support the ensuing Insurance claim, Which had a successful outcome, I'm happy to say. This is the kind of service that makes the Copacabana Palace one of the great hotels of the World and we can't wait to return.
