Exceptional Eco Lodge with varied wildlife viewing
Araras knows what it is doing when it comes to wildlife viewing. There are a number of opportunities, boat, canoe, walking, which I think is the best for birds, vehicle, morning, evening, night and very early as well as canopy towers. They also have a quite diverse range of fauna. The staff is warm and the facilities nice and the food local and wonderful.
Lovely place to stay in the pantanal
We had a great stay here for 2 nights in the pantanal. We booked onto a tour so had several activities lined up including trekking, going up the howler monkey tower and jibiru towers, canoeing and both day and night safaris. A lot of activities were fit into two days although it didn’t feel too busy and there was still plenty of downtime to relax. I would definitely recommend waking up for sunrise and going to the monkey tower to watch the pantanal come to life. Rooms were good with a nice veranda with a hammock to relax and have a caipirinha with some occasional wildlife to observe! Roberto was our guide and he was very knowledgeable. Food was also lovely - very healthy and good for vegetarians too. Something you appreciate after having lots of salty food elsewhere in Brazil!
A great place to see birds!
This is not a place for any tourist as it takes effort to get here. Once you are here, you get totally immersed with the wonderful wildlife in the Pantanal. It is a great learning experience. Outings are well organized with siesta time after lunch. Staff are friendly and there are great places to relax and simply enjoy the birdsong and other animals.
Excellent Introduction to the Dry Side of the Pantanal
We stayed at Araras for two nights during a 10 night visit to the Pantanal. The room was just the right size for two people. The food choices were excellent, and the owners were very friendly. The owner let me rent a pair of binoculars, for which we were very grateful. The land safaris allowed us to see various wildlife during our stay.
Wonderful 5 Days at Araras Lodge
Really enjoyed my stay in mid-October at Araras Lodge. it was full of amazing wildlife (mostly birds) & the Jaguar Express trip to Porto Jofre, although expensive, was well worth it - seeing 2 jaguars and 2 groups of giant otters (amazing). Even when the activities have finished, there is always wildlife - birds, caiman, capybara to see around the Lodge, even if see from just a hammock! I am a fussy eater but the food was very good - simple meat, rice, veg & fruits etc. Would recommend this to anyone who enjoys nature. The guided walks & drives were very good - knowledgeable guides.
