Blissful in Buzios
This is a chic small-scale ocean front boutique hotel, with majestic suites, spectacular views and a renowned restaurant. The hotel’s COVID safety protocol was appropriate as the virus continue to ran rampant in Brazil. The lobby sets the tone to the “joys of living” of this laid-back atmosphere that combines the classic comfort of a Mediterranean style beach house, with the indulgences of a luxury hotel. A warm hand towel and a welcoming caipirinha would have made this the most memorable hotel check-in ever, perhaps next time. The entire property is visually striking. From the entry gate , to the enchanting courtyards and the breathtaking views of the Orla. The terrace/pool area is surrounded by pots filled with simple but bold, lush greenery and palm trees. Strategically arranged furniture create an inviting space where guests can gather for cocktails and friendly conversation, in addition to large sun beds overlooking the Orla where you can become the best sun-kissed version of yourself. The suite was spacious and restful. Its tranquil color scheme and elegant decor, create a peaceful setting to induce serenity, perfect for a re-energizing stay! The indoor garden brought in sun light to warm and brighten the space. It had a remote control to its retractable roof so you could also have a pitch black room if you felt like sleeping in. The comfortable king size bed faced the large sliding glass doors that opened up to the large veranda, creating one large open space, connecting the intimacy of the room to the outside environment with unobstructed views of the Orla. Pictures cannot express the undisputed beautiful views from the veranda, where we had breakfast each morning. Book a room with a veranda! The extra large shower had excellent water pressure and a glass door facing the Orla providing relaxation and incredible views. Some may find the shower to be an issue since hotel patrons could possibly see you naked inside your shower from the sun deck. ¥ DISLIKED ¥ The shower floor needed deep cleaning and maintenance to get rid of the green algae spots and broken parts. For a hotel so magnificent, I was disappointed that the room could be that dirty. Bring flip-flops. The bed sheets were stained when we arrived. They were clean (washed & ironed) but had some old brown stains. Again, a hotel of this caliber should not have stained bed sheets. It took 2 days for sheets to be changed. The veranda had not been cleaned prior to our arrival, there were glass rings and food crumbs on the outdoor tables. The couch was full of sand, or dirt. The view was incredible, hypnotizing even, so we chose to overlook items that one would normally call the front desk for resolution. This was in the midst of the pandemic and we were trying to de-stress at this place, so we chose to ignore details that would jeopardize our peace of mind during our vacation. The sink was an architectural piece that tied beautifully with the room decor. In theory a great idea but in practice a bit messy. It was a rectangular vessel stone zero depth sink. When brushing your teeth you have to spit on the flat slab and it just stays there if you don’t rinse off. The faucet was close to the mirror on the back of the sink causing water to splash all over and run down the mirror all the way to the floor. The sink and mirror will always be dirty unless you wipe them every time you use. Lots of dirt marks and makeup stains on the white walls. Housekeeping has room for improvement. We ordered sandwiches and the alfajor from room service one night, and we were not impressed. Hotel only had imported beers, as an international guest I really wished they had Brazilian beers. ¥ LIKED ¥ Unforgettable views, aesthetic decor & calming vibe. The feel of the ocean breeze all over the well ventilated hotel. Gabriel and Renato at the front desk were very accommodating ans promptly executed any service request. Most of the staff had impeccable manners and many were multilingual. L’Occitane bath products. Did I mention the view from the veranda? The powerful and quiet room A/C. Large spray bottle of alcohol in the room was perfect to use during the pandemic. Delicious caipirinhas. The breakfast was great! Lots of fresh and tasty options served in closed individual containers (Covid safety)and delivered to your room each morning. Black and white movies playing on the side of the building at night . Monitored security gates require you to buzz in and be identified in order to be allowed into the property. We stayed from Mon-Fri. It was quiet, only a few guests, relaxing and wonderful. We loved it!! Thursday night marked the arrival of some loud guests kids are and I can’t help but think that the charm of this tranquil boutique hotel could be swept away during the busy season. It’s a small place, one of the factors that attracted me to the hotel, but at full capacity the noise level could easily travel through the open hallways and rooms, leaving you with no place to relax. The opposite of the tranquil retreat I so much enjoyed, so consider going during the off season to dodge the crowds.
We were staying in Buzios and were recommended to go a restaurant by an employee. It turns out we went to the wrong place but we were pleasantly surprised !! We had a fabulous meal with our wine and will be back.
The owners are always there taking care of every little detail of the hotel so that our stay is as perfect as possible. Location, atmosphere, food, service, staff, ...it gets better and better over the years

Situated overlooking the Bay in a great location, this hotel was very friendly, and very professional at the same time. All the staff were very customer focused and nothing was a problem We would be happy to come again and recommend it to others
