We stayed at Waves for about 11 days. At first, I was taken aback because it is not a four star property. There’s nobody to assist with luggage and guests have to carry their own down several steps to the stark lobby. Check in was ok. No great feeling of welcome from the particular receptionist on duty. The rooms (we had one of the best) are below standard, old, shabby and tired. BUT, VERY CLEAN! The bed was very comfortable and the housekeepers are amazing! They work incredibly hard! Nothing was too much to ask of them to accommodate us. Our room was a split level with a balcony and not worth the extra money. There’s a mini fridge that’s supposed to be restocked daily, which was often overlooked. The dining room was utilitarian and not at all luxurious. It tended to be very hot, and due to the “social distancing” requirements, somewhat challenging; that said, the hostesses tried their best to quickly accommodate us. The food was average and repetitive. But nothing was too much to ask the servers, and asking for extras was always happily given. The waitresses are the hardest working I have ever met, and they were all nice and friendly; I fell in love with a few of them! They arranged for the chef to treat us on a couple of occasions to local dishes which were magnificent! I have to recognise Valerie, Tamisha, Christine and all the others. The bar was very busy with orders, and always cheerfully served. Chad was wonderful. The beach was small but very nice and the Sea beautiful. The beach attendants helped with chairs, umbrellas and towels, and drinks were frequently served. Kim, the manager, is the most amazing manager I’ve ever met: she was involved in all aspects of her property and helped out everywhere; she seemed to genuinely care about her guests and remembered our names. She is an asset not only to this hotel, but to Barbados. Despite the current situation, she kept everything moving. Waves is not the type of hotel we usually stay in, and I wanted to leave, but Kim’s care and kindness kept me there; by the end, we extended a couple of nights and were sad to leave.
My kids and i went to this hotel to stay for 18 days at the end of August. It was our first time visiting Barbados. It was lovely, very relaxing, clean and great with regards to Covid, temp checks, cleaning, social distancing and masks etc. The all inclusive food and drink were really nice. The service pool and beach side was fab, saves you going back and forth. The water sports were really fun. All beach equipment was sanitised between each use. The staff could not do enough for you. Valerie, Honey, Christine, Jennifer, Loreal and Tracy-ann, were so lovely in the restaurant, friendly and chatty and really helpful. (all restaurant staff were friendly and polite) Sharmake was great serving us on the bar many times, he had such good customer service on the bar as well as polite and friendly wherever else you saw him. Ahkeem on the front desk was really helpful and couldn’t do enough to help you. And the room service lady on floor 2 who looked after us and our room was so nice. Always willing to help you. The manager Kim liked to check on you too, which was nice. It felt like a nice family place. As a woman travelling on my own with my children (as my hubby had to work), i was quite nervous about travelling as one parent with children but the staff soon put me at ease and i and the children felt really comfortable and at home at all times. Little tip- take cash to the beach as there are local beach sellers daily with hand crafted bits to sell. They make really nice one of a kind souvenirs. The beach is so beautiful and the sea is perfect. Only thing i would suggest is when it is really raining, having some board games or something in the lounge area to keep people occupied temporarily. I really loved staying here, it is a beautiful place and the locals are so friendly. I will definitely be back. Thank you for some great memories Waves! 😊🥰 From the Cooper family
Great stay for golf trip
My friend and I moved our annual golf trip from Florida to here and it was a fantastic choice and we are still here with a few days left. The staff make this hotel, always polite and friendly and most remember you by name, waiting staff even remember your drinks! Crystal on reception was the first person we met and she was and has continued to be really helpful and accommodated a room change for us after our first night (we wanted to be on the ground floor) yes with an extra charge but that was more than acceptable, due to then having a sea view. The Covid situation is being handled over here very well and I have to commend Waves on the procedures they have in place and how safe it makes you feel. The food has been excellent throughout and with all inclusive normally being buffet style, they have systems In place that for breakfast and lunch allow an element of that but with assisted serving but Dinner is a la carte and we found this to be better with always plenty of choice. Had our complimentary Spa treatment today and it was professional and well explained, as we are no experts in visiting a spa! Also worth mentioning that every day our room has been immaculately cleaned, tidied and looked after with towel changes being really welcomed. To summarise, don’t hesitate to book Waves if you want a relaxing break with wonderful staff who are all accommodating and the Manager Kim really does care about her customers and is often out and about the hotel checking everyone is ok.
After lockdown and all of the stress of this year it was amazing to walk into waves Hotel. I would highly recommend a stay at waves! It is so beautiful with an amazing view over the beach and sea. When we arrived the hotel had just reopened. We were made very welcome by the staff and we were even upgraded to beautiful sea view rooms which was a real treat. There was also a little bag of gifts in the room. The food and drinks are really great and worth the money but like many reviews on here it really is the staff who make it special. Everyone is so lovely but for us Pamela was our angel coming to find us with wine, fruit and cool spritz when we were sunbathing. She was so lovely and always had a smile and a laugh despite working really hard. Kim the manger was always checking to make sure we were happy which was lovely. I also think they struck a good balance between being Covid aware and also letting us enjoy ourselves. Highly recommend and I’d love to go back soon
Came to Waves with my other half and his son. We had a great time, the staff are fantastic just too many to name doing such a good job in such a difficult time. Very organised with temperature checking and hand sanitizer stations. Food is very very good, always served with a smile and always a new cocktail to try as well. The guys at the beach do a great job with chairs, towels, water sports, and drink service. Thank you all for a lovely time, we had a lovely 8 days away. 😍😍😍
