This couples-only resort has a chic design, excellent dining and superb swimming pools.
Head down to south-coast Maxwell Beach and you’ll find the younger sister to neighbouring Sandals Barbados. It follows the same Luxury Included® concept, with exceptional service and an incredible range of facilities and watersports, but also has some particularly impressive features. The sleek, white-washed design is punctuated with Mediterranean-style terracotta roofs and thatched rondoval cottages, and there’s a glass-fronted infinity pool which cascades down towards the beach, framed by futuristic, pyramid-shaped cabanas. Take a break from sunbathing at Sandals’ first four-lane bowling alley, grab a drink from the adjacent Lover’s Lane Bar and unwind in the rooftop pool as the sun sets over Oistins Bay.

Featuring custom crafted furnishings and sleek, airy décor splashed with seaside colour, the resort’s 338 suites are spread across three areas – the Royal Seaside Village is edged by the white-sand beach, the Rondoval Suites are in the middle of the resort and the South Seas Village sits at the other end. The South Seas Hideaway Suites feature special tranquility beds and aromatherapy systems for the ultimate in relaxation, while the Swim-Up suites offer direct access to the Crystal Lagoon pool. They’re all either Club Level or Butler Suite; the first include private check-in, all-day room service and access to the Club Sandals Lounge, while Butler Suite rooms include added extras – among them a personal butler, 24-hour room service and VIP check-in. Go all out and choose one of the beachfront rooms – the Beachfront One Bedroom Skypool Butler Suite with Balcony Tranquility Soaking Tub has a private infinity-edge skypool with breathtaking views over the ocean. If you’re willing to sacrifice the sea view, the South Seas Royal Rondoval Butler Suite with Private Pool Sanctuary also comes with its own private plunge pool.

As with all Sandals resorts, guests here get two free scuba dives per day if they’re certified; those that aren’t can take an introductory programme or full PADI course for an extra charge to discover the reefs, caves and shipwrecks that scatter the surrounding waters. A full range of watersports is included, from kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding to snorkelling and Hobie Cat sailing, with free glass bottom boat trips thrown in too.
All Sandals resorts participate in the EarthCheck program, committed to protecting the environment (nine of the properties have been awarded Master Certification). In partnership with international NGO Oceanic Global, the company has eliminated single-use plastics in front and back of house operations across its resorts and has been awarded Blue Standard in recognition. Resorts work with local suppliers to reduce carbon footprint; an average of 56% of produce needs across the resorts are bought from local farmers, and 59% of the seafood served is sourced locally.
