Not an enjoyable stay
I wouldn’t stay at this hotel again. Here’s why: 1. My husband ordered a cocktail by the pool on our arrival - it tasted like dirty river water however, he drank it. Hours later he was struck down with bali belly or poisoning of some kind which lasted the duration of our stay and quite frankly ruined our holiday. 2. The rooms are dark with no sun and there’s no nice view - you’re just facing other rooms, it feels like you’re in a cave, there’s no balcony. AND the curtains are broken! There are no blackouts to the window nook area - just broken Venetian blinds - you have to close them all one by one manually - other guests also seem to have issues as I can see directly into their rooms at night. 3. The room smelt very moist and musty when we checked in - very overpowering and unpleasant. Ceiling of shower covered in mould. 4. Breakfast is limited - most of the food was covered in flies and bread was stale, pineapple not ripe, eggs under cooked. Staff around the pool/restaurant were all coughing and seemed unwell like they shouldn’t be at work. 5. Pool - chemicals sting your eyes and skin. Day beds and umbrellas are stained and look like they’ve never had a good scrub down. 6. Wifi drops out all the time. Especially in the rooms. 7. Lots of banging and clanging and noise early in the morning. Our room was towards the back of the hotel. From 6am onwards all we could hear was shuffling and banging of cutlery, staff watering plants, scrubbing concrete etc. Even swatting bugs against the walls of our room. From 9am all day long - construction or rearrangement of furniture in the room above ours. Positives for this hotel are its location. The staff are very welcoming when you are coming and going. Easy to arrange transport, etc. The rooftop is a lovely spot but it’s poorly utilised - only used for free afternoon tea for one hour daily. I did not feel like we got our money’s worth at this hotel.
More shine as being
We were in the Ubud Village Hotel for 4 days in November 2019. The hotel Ist located in the center of Ubud at the main road through the city. Although close to the very noisy road it gets astonishing silent when entering the hotel. The rooms are quite large, however we experienced them not in good shape. Our room stunk strongly mildewed, really unhealthy (unfortunately the hotel has booked out, so that we couldn’t change the room). Rims and edges in the bath were rather black and it looked like that nobody as been attentive to reaching an appropriate level of cleanness. Cushions from the deck chairs at the pool side have been spotted and dirty. We saw mildew on the cushions and sunshades as well. I can not recommend the hotel and would never book it again.
Good location in the centre of Ubud. Lovely, friendly, welcoming staff. Spacious room. Anti Mosquito kit provided. Modern bathroom. Great pool. Good breakfast but needs the option of a cereal that isn't sugared.
Good location, extremely friendly staff and wonderful service
This hotel is located along the streets but upon entering, it's like you are entering a little sanctuary, away from the noise of the streets. We were greeted with warm smiles when we checked in and the staff helped us with the paperwork while we waited in the lobby. After finishing our welcome drink, we were brought to our room. To our surprise, we were given a complimentary upgrade to a villa room. The room was huge! Everything was beyond our expectations. The breakfast was semi-buffet style facing the pool. The hotel is relatively centrally located to the Ubud Art Market and Monkey Forest. Highly recommended!
Really lovely hotel!
We stayed here for 4 nights and the room was AMAZING! Everything was so clean! The breakfast was great and they will make your breakfast fresh! The hotel pool was never busy so always room to sit around. Very friendly staff and live music every night! Great location! The gym was basic and the air con didn't really work but it wasn't a deal breaker. Also the afternoon tea which is free was amazing!
