Somerset on the Pier covers everything, perfect accommodation
Somerset on the Pier is the perfect accommodation for staying in Hobart. We live outside of Hobart and it’s our choice for a city get away. Perfect location, smack bang in the middle of all the action, walking distance to city shopping, Salamanca markets and a variety of exquisite restaurants to suit all budgets. The view, OMG to die for, overlooking the famous Constitution Dock. Sit on the balcony with a yummy local produce Charcuterie platter and Tassie wine and what could be more perfect? Hint, there is a fabulous little supermarket called Salamanca Fresh within walking distance where you can purchase all your supplies, even a bunch of flowers to keep you in the good books, or bring on the romance...... We recommend the Salamanca markets on Saturday, if you have never been, however after COVID a lots less stalls which is understandable. Get there at 9am no later...... The actual accommodation is wonderful, it has everything you could need. Super comfy bed with TV. Kitchenette downstairs with microwave and fridge, tea/coffee facilities, dishwasher. There is a lovely deep bath in the nice size bathroom with all ammenities, and a washing machine and dryer for your convenience. A lovely big TV downstairs, working desk, dining table, lounge and coffee table. Little chairs and outside table on balcony. What more could you want. Oh and service was so friendly and welcoming, just superb. Fully recommend Somerset on the Pier.
Not suitable for 4 adults
We’d booked this through an intermediary based upon marketing as a 2 bedroom apartment. There was one small double bedroom - so small that you needed to move the bed to shut the door. Room was internal, no windows or aircon so very hot. The extra beds were on an open landing outside the bedroom. Good location but noisy.
Awful customer service
I don't usually write reviews and for reference we have stayed in 9 different places as a family of 5 this holiday and not had any issues with any of the others but this was bar far the the worst night's sleep. The room looked fab, the views amazing and the maisonette style made the experience more interesting however the rooms came with a washer and a dryer and both the rooms either side of us had these going until well after midnight and someone must have left a bathroom fan on in a nearby room all night . I phoned downstairs as our whole bed was vibrating with the noise when it hit 11pm as I thought noise was fair game until then but staff did not solve the problem. I have given a 1* review not just for the poor night's sleep we had but the customer service was shocking, an "oh sorry" was not massively helpful. Disappointed by this place.
Great place to stay
We stayed here for 3 nights. The room was great. Bedroom was upstairs on a mezzanine level. The room was clean & comfortable. The location was amazing. We had a balcony that looked over the harbour. One down side was the parking. They only have 5 spots outside the hotel & another 18 designated spots near by in the public (outside) parking areas. Having a nice car, it was a bit concerning for me. We would definitely stay here again.
A great central place to stay. Right in the middle of town. Two couples in two different rooms - one of us had a balcony and it was lovely. The parking can be an issue but they have parking permits which are okay
