a 2 day stay
With a voucher in hand from our kids for a birthday some 2 years ago we decided it was time to getaway & enjoy a couple of days at The Anchorage. Upon arrival we were greeted with a smile, behind a mask, & had details confirmed with the offer of a complimentary glass of sparkling after we had settled in. Dinner in the "Pop Up" restaurant, due to renovations was very good. The service by staff was excellent. Breakfast the next morning was not disappointing, fresh fruit bowl with a selection of yoghurt. The omelet of smoked salmon was perfectly cooked. Great coffee was served. Our stay was cut short by a lock down, the staff organised our credit in professional manner. We would throughly recommend this venue as a place to escape to & enjoy some ME TIME
We recently had the amazing experience of staying at The Anchorage on a Luxury Escape deal. Can I say this is probably the nicest stay we have had in Australia. from bubbles at check in with friendly and efficient staff to a spacious room with comfy bed, starred bathroom products and a Marina view, we thought this was heaven. Then came the meals, from breakfast to dinner, they were top quality, especially the Chateaubriand. A big thank you to the breakfast staff especially Rodney who put many a smile on the guests faces on what was a cold and windy day. We will certainly frequent The Anchorage again and have spread the news far and wide already. Congratulations to the management who chose these staff to make our stay so enjoyable and memorable.
Winter weekend by the bay
Super mini break for the weekend. The location and amenities are beautiful. The customer service was fabulous throughout particularly the restaurant and breakfast teams. Very impressed with the room we had loft style in the Asquith house with gorgeous 180 degree views over the water. Breakfast was overlooking the marina with some Dolphins playing around the yachts.
Baby moon vacation
One of the best hotel stays ive had in australia, we booked a baby moon package which had a lot of perks inclusive ,spa, breaky, lunch and a welcome package & gift for bubs as well. We were so lucky to get upgraded to the 2bd loft which was mind blowing and so super luxe. Honestly didnt want to leave and def booking our summer vacation here again..
Average at best
This was a Luxury Escape package. The staff are either unfamiliar with what is included in such a package or just don’t care. I was contacted a few weeks before our planned stay and asked, if possible, could I move my dates to accommodate a large party. At a small inconvenience I did. At no time on arrival was that acknowledged or referred to which I thought odd. I had paid for a Loft. Mistake!! No one, neither Luxury Escapes or The Anchorage told me that their is only one bedding option; king size bed. I put a request for twin beds in the booking request. Ignored by both. When we got to the room and saw the bed configuration I asked if it could be changed. Long story but I spent a lot of money to sleep on a dinky sofa bed. So not what I expected. No option to downgrade. The High Tea was ok, although nothing exceptional. Wouldn’t do it again. Breakfast ok. A production line. Staff go through the motions but not interested. I ordered the banana bread and poached pear, Banana bread was stale. I think at an establishment like this, I would expect freshly baked. Lunch. If you don’t book they turn you away regardless that there were about eight people in the restaurant. No one tells you this, and the woman on the desk was clearly out of her depth so basically just told us she couldn’t fit us in. Dinner. We had a Luxury Escape $100 voucher. The food was ok, not great. Seafood options minimal which was surprising. I found out the staff are not educated or understand the Luxury Escape inclusions. The woman I spoke to was so spectacularly rude and dismissive that I think she even surprised herself. She changed her attitude when I pointedly looked at her name badge and then she made a feeble effort to get advice, which also reflected a completely ignorant response. I followed up with this woman at reception and they just don’t care. Two horrid nights on a ‘camp bed’ and the shocking arrogance and rudeness of the staff means as nice as this hotel is, I won’t be returning. I would strongly suggest that if you want a Luxury Escape in the Port Stephens area, perhaps consider their rival at Soldiers Point.
