We arrived early after our cruise was cut short by 3 days. Arrived about 9-30am bonus the room was ready the room was fine very clean and comfortable. Tea and coffee in room with free safe . Wifi worked well over hotel. Pool area very nice looked bigger on photos , free pool towels .great views when no cruise ships are in port. The hotel is in a great position on the rocks . Walking distance to bridge and opera house and ferries. We visited in difficult times and had to cut our stay short the reception staff were great and very helpful with us. The room and hotel were very clean lots of sanitizer on reception areas . Lots of places were closed around hotel so the area was very quiet but I would think in different times it would be a great location. We will definitely stay here again when we return to Sydney.
Easy cruise access
Our room both before and after our cruise was wonderful. It was a short walk to the ship and they store luggage while touring the area. The rooftop pool area has a wonderful view of the Opera House and Harbor Bridge or cruise ship if one is docked at the International Pier. We enjoyed eating at Pancakes on the Rocks which is nearby. We hope to return in calmer times.
Very upset and disappointed with our stay
We arrived at the hotel early morning after arriving into Sydney, to be informed the Hotel were obliged to quarantine us for 14 days. The lady at reception was very rude and argued with us, insisting it was our fault we arrived just a few hours after a quarantine was put in place. Absolutely no empathy about the fact we had just arrived, exhausted, after a 26 hour journey. When we queried what she was saying, she became threatening and said she was going to report us to the authorities if we refused to go to the allocated room and stay there. We were given our room 319 which was quite far from anything, had no view except over extractor fans from a bar, no fresh air and told we couldn’t walk about and only order from room service. The room was really small and for 14 days of isolation and quarantine this was totally inadequate. We had to order drinking water and coffee. We had no table upon which to eat any meals and the menu was very limited with nothing I would choose as a main meal and absolutely no breakfast option. When Staff came to the door they just left anything on the floor outside. Nobody seemed to want to acknowledge we were even in the hotel. I spent my entire time at the hotel in tears. A very stressful experience.
Fabulous location! Close to everything! I would reccomend this hotel for anyone traveling on a cruiseship or if you are wanting to see the local sites via walking. The included breakfast was better than we experienced on the cruise-just fabulous!!!
Room: 620. We were the last passengers on March 14 to disembarked from a cruise ship. We were greeted by friendly professional helpful Rydges front desk staff We knew were in good hands during this most difficult time of Covid-19 as borders globally were rapidly shutting down. Upon check in front desk staff kindly arranged for our transportation even though it was 5 days away. This helped to alleviate our stress during this most uncertain time we did not know if we would get home to North America! !!!! Appreciated the professional housekeeping staff keeping our room clean. Kudos to room service staff who faithfully brought numerous ice buckets to our room for my husband’s swollen feet. Kitchen staff were friendly and efficient. Lovely buffet breakfast.
