No change to reservation even due to the death of a family member.
Please read the other terrible reviews and remember they will not refund or even change the dates under any circumstances. We were travelling with another couple and the costs are prepaid including dinner, breakfast etc over $700. My friend emailed and gave documentation as she made a mercy dash to her mother that became critically ill overseas very suddenly. This hotel after three emails would not even allow a date change three days in advance! She was not asking for a refund but a credit note and this was refused. So remember who you are dealing with and their priorities the sudden passing of your mother does not warrant a credit note.
Breakfast on Wednesday morning was everything you could ask for. Arrive early to beat the cues. Emma, Celine and Sarah were all very attentive, professional, polite. Yes you can’t access the buffet as before Covid be patient, the staff are the olive to help and that is precisely what they did for my partner and I.
I stayed with my friend for one night. I was reluctant as I had read some bad reviews but thought we would try anyway as it looked stunning. The service was fantastic, the hotel clean and beautiful. The grounds are so pretty and well maintained. I notice that clients keep complaining about the ‘queue’ to breakfast as the staff have to serve you due to COVID. It really isn’t that long to wait - maybe 5 minutes? There is social distancing and the staff are working hard and are doing their absolute best given the current situation. It seems people are quick to complain but I’m sure they would complain more if there was an outbreak of COVID due to customers demanding needs! The only improvement I would like to see in the bedroom is more mirrors so we could dry our hair sitting in the room rather than standing in the bathroom. It’s a wonderful place and we will definitely be back. We are so pleased we chose this gorgeous retreat and next time we will stay for longer. Thankyou ! Lesley and Louise 😀🙏
High Tea Disappointment
I totally agree with the previous comment. It was a special occasion for my family taking my mum there for her birthday. I was looking forward to experiencing Lilianfels as I hadn’t been there before. We chose the luxurious High Tea at $80 per person and were so disappointed. We were expecting quality and I agree the cakes did taste like Sara Lee. Cleanliness was low too which during Covid is a concern. There was a food fork from a previous guest on the floor where we were sitting. More disappointing was the service. We waited over 30 minutes for our tea to come so we could have this with our scones. We asked 3 times where the tea was and got little response or apology. I won’t be recommending this and struggle to rate the experience especially for the price.
50th Birthday Celebrations 🎈🎈🍾🥂
We as a group have visited and enjoyed on many occasions the many wonderful facilities on offer at Lillianfels. Today we had a High Tea and what a disappointment for a 5 star establishment. FIRSTLY, the cakes on the platter were from Sara Lee, the majority of the savoury items were completely tastless, inadequate seasoning and just awful, leaving only the scones, jam and cream which were delicious. The lounge area was not clean, tables covered with thick dust, and the poorest service. The staff were inadequate and obviously have had no training that you would expect from a 5 star hotel. When this was raised with 2 staff members including the manager, all we got was...Oh, I am sorry!! SORRY, THIS IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH..Will never return, nor will we recommend to others. PS..Get yourselves a new pastry chef..
