Another great Sheraton property
We booked in last minute on the phone and arrived at reception with a lovely girl checking us in. Even though the property is getting older the gardens were stunning and the rooms were clean and modern. The pool is a kids dream. My only recommendations would be that more staff was needed at reception and the food at breakfast and dinner could be improved.
Awesome - will be back
My husband and I visited for a belated honeymoon (thanks Covid!) and we were so glad we booked this place. The hotel is lovely, the staff were great (Caroline even left us a bottle of bubbly as it was our honeymoon!) and they upgraded us to a suite for free. 'Harrisons' had really great food and it was lovely to sit outside by the pool to enjoy dinner. The swim up bar was also a dream. 10/10 we will definitely visit again.
Would definitely stay here again
Although we were holidaying in peak time, we were not surrounded by people. The large pools meant everyone had enough space. Our double room was a good size, with a good size bathroom. The beds were very comfortable and house keeping was very good at their job. Dinner in th feast restaurant was delicious so we ate their 3 times.
Christmas & NYE @ The Mirage
We have just spent 12 days in Port Douglas staying in one of the luxury villas adjacent to the golf course and a mere 100 m to the beach. We spent some of the time using the facilities at the Mirage and my experience was excellent. The Mirage is certainly the best Resort in Australia having had a significant makeover since my last visit in 2016. We had Christmas Day lunch in the Feast and NYE in Harrisons. We also frequented Harrisons for their Happy Hour cocktails on several days and used the services of the steward patrolling the pool area to obtain poolside drinks. The staff were all excellent without exception. I have to pay attention to the chef who produced excellent meals on the 25th and 31st, better than I had ever experienced before. These two meals made our vacation to Nth Queensland exceptional at a time when often Christmas Day lunch and NYE dinners are overpriced and poor quality. HOWEVER that was not the case at the Mirage. Well done to everyone.
Still the best in Port Douglas
Port Douglas is an unique and relaxing venue, however, accommodation choices are fairly limited especially at the higher end of the spectrum. Yes, there are some great high end air b&bs and private apartments but when it comes to a proper hotel, the Grand Mirage still holds it's position as the best hotel in the area despite it age. It has been recently refurbished and the design and layout have stood the test of time. Try to score a ground floor room that opens to the delightful pool, you will truly appreciated the facilities of the property. F&B is generally good but the fine dining restaurant, Harrison, is great in terms of service and food quality.
