It is loacated on a privately owned island. It is contemporary in design. The rooms are exceptionally large and also have massive balconies. It was wonderful to watch the sunsets or sunrises while sitting soaking up the view. Breakfast was included and offered a good variety of hot and cold items. The staff was very accomodating and the dinner selection great. The shuttle service was a nice touch
Like the rest of the island, this hotel is quite poor
The room size was fine, and the view was great, but the food was bad. We ordered room serve twice and there was a hair in our food both times. I spoke to the F&B manager, but he didn't seem to care. We had to call for cleaning service each day; I guess they forgot to clean the rooms? The pool is terrible. the majority of restaurants near the hotel were closed, not sure why, as we were there at the end of summer. Overall, do not book at this hotel if you want clean water, and a clean pool with reasonable drink prices. In fact, don't go to Hamilton Island! Go to Phuket instead. Or Queenstown.
Low fuss holiday
The Reef View Hotel is well positioned across the road from Catseye Beach. We were able to get a good deal for accommodation here, with a stay five nights pay four offer. The price included breakfast each day, with a choice of 3 different venues, as well as access to the sport club and free beach equipment hire, including kayaks, windsurfers, catamarans and snorkels. It has everything you need to have a low fuss enjoyable holiday. There are free shuttle buses that take you from the airport to the hotel as well as to various locations around the island. It is also a short walk to many of the main restaurants and venues in Hamilton Island. We came here for an anniversary and were treated to a free bottle of champagne to celebrate the occasion. We thought that was a lovely touch. our room was spacious and comfortable. From the balcony of the hotel there are beautiful views out over the water and you often get curious cockatoos stopping by for a visit. In terms of the breakfast options, we thought that Sails had the widest range of buffet options (although be ware that if you sit outside there are opportunistic birds that circle the tables). For a special treat, check out the breakfast with koalas at Hamilton Island Wildlife.
Getting renovated, great views
We stayed 4 nights, meant to be 5 but we left a day early due to the island advising they were closing down due to the damn virus. Totally understandable. Our room view was fantastic looking over the water and pool and beach below. Yes cockatoo land on your balcony but don’t let them in! Breakfast can with the room, was good in the pool terrace and sails. The wildlife cafe is a miss, one koala behind a glass fence, poor thing. It looked healthy but then attacked the ranger when he brought it fresh leaves. Pool is great as was the service all round. Cocktails are small for what you pay. I would return. Renovations are happening so I’d wait till they’re complete. Huge bathrooms and large rooms and balconies. Enjoy.
For the price and how it is advertised, it delivered much less than expected
I hadn't a pleasant stay. I did not feel welcomed, as majority of the staff was always serious and I was actually the one greeting them when initiating a conversation instead of them; room was not properly clean (hair on the bathroom floor on the arrival) and missing things after cleaning; cleaning and organization of the restaurant also disappointing (table and seats cleaned with the same cloth), method for staff to collect cutlery and clean tables while customers waiting to be seated in the main restaurant was inefficient (slow). In my experience, not worth what is advertised at all.
