We have had a wonderful stay. Four blissful days. The resort is stunning. The tropical gardens are beautiful and the facilities are clean, modern, well maintained. The staff are wonderful. All of them without exception were helpful and polite. We stayed in a room without a pool. It faced south with a completely private outlook onto water over rainforest. We couldnt see any other pavilions from our balcony. The room is massive with lounges, very comfy bed, large bath. The helicopter pad was nearby by and we went down there to watch the sun set one evening. We used the main pool which had great seating options of shade huts, umbrellas by the pool or on the beach. Poolside service was great. Expensive food and cocktails but they were good. Complimentary water juice and soft drinks which is great. There is a gym which even with COVID restrictions was available each time we wanted to go. The complimentary watersports are great. We went sailing and stand up paddle boarding. We dined the a la carte menu one night and degustation menu another. Both delicious. We had the degustation with matched wines. Wines were great. Food was good but perhaps not quite worth the price tag. But still very good. We dined at sails in the main part of Hamilton island the other two nights. They have the chef from coco chu there now because they have closed the coco chu restaurant for COVID. The food there is amazing if you like Asian food. Absolutely delicious. It’s just a shame the coco chu restaurant is closed because it the atmosphere at sails is very RSL like. It’s still worth going for the food though. The only downside to qualia was not being able to go to the spa. I really hope they fix this in the future with more spa rooms and staff or even offering in room treatments. Overall an amazing stay. Thank you to all the staff.
Attempted to book a spa treatment for our special event prior to staying for five nights @ over $2000 a night only to be told they are booked out due to staff issues for the next two weeks. This has totally put us off even before we have arrived.
40th Birthday in Luxury
Qualia, Qualia, Qualia, the absolute OG of Australian luxury properties is where the old ball and chain chose to spend the first day of his 40th year on earth. Bloody good job we opted to remain in the sunshine state - considering all this border nonsense occurring currently. Since our international borders slammed shut we have made a very privileged informed choice to get around as many “Luxury Lodges of Australia” as we could - however I would say this is definitely more in line with a luxury resort than a “luxury lodge” per se. As a large resort we feel it was at times lacking the more personable touch that we had experienced at other smaller “luxury lodge” properties in Australia...however to reframe it’s a great place to be anonymous, keep yourselves to yourselves and only be sociable if you choose to. Check in was efficient...all be it a little rehearsed...however this is fairly understandable given the size of the property. However...has anyone ever been to a place where the accomodation not only meets you at the airport but goes and handles that total ball ache of a task of waiting for your bags to get thrown into the carousel at the airport! That was indeed a 10/10 service...we didn’t see our luggage again until we checked into our room. Can’t fault the food! If you are only staying for 2-3 nights definitely opt for the Gourmet package - which means you get dinner included. But make sure to book the Pebble Beach degustation in advance (absolutely amazing)...Qualia were kind enough to squeeze us in at last minute. We didn’t add on many extra activities as we had been to Hammo before and this time round just wanted pure chill vibes....but the one thing we did book was a sunset cruise which was unfortunately cancelled due to a bit of drizzle (which incidentally cleared up by the time we would have gone on the cruise) but weather is unpredictable I guess. Our day round the stunning resort infinity pool at pebble beach was great with the poolside drinks service, all served in pool safe drink ware so you can sit in the water and take as many Insta hoe selfies as you like - we also managed to bag ourselves a cabana which was a nice touch. I’m sure the resort can get busy...but there was a nice amount of people round the pool and it didn’t seem too crowded. I’d have to say the complimentary “sunset cocktails” were mis advertised as there were nil cocktails as I know them to be seen, instead beer, wine or a G&T....maybe best to rebrand this “sunset drinks”. Speaking of drinks...for the amount of money we paid (akin to other luxury lodges that we have stayed at) I am surprised that at least a basic alcoholic drinks package wasn’t included. I think that Qualia could offer an “all inclusive” rate for those who are interested. So instead you can drive your golf buggy down to the IGA and get some bevos - or do what I did and pre bottle some cocktails at home to bring with, which I stored in the mini fridge...there’s also a full ice machine thang happening in your pavilion so it’s very easy to DIY! The complimentary bottle of Champers on arrival into the our pavilion was a great touch, in addition to the many top ups we were given during the check in process. The contactless checkout and being able to review your bill on the TV was also a good touch, as well as all your transfer times and luggage collection organised seamlessly. All in all it’s not my all time favourite “luxury lodge of Australia” to date....but it lived up to our expectations...would highly recommend for those wanting to treat yo selves...also it’s a fully child free resort...so dump those sprogs and head to Qualia!
Great way to celebrate 60th
Close to perfection - peaceful, luxurious, set in magnificent tropical gardens with excellent service. Dined at both long pavilion and pebble beach, highlight was degustation menu at pebble beach. Weather was ordinary, but that didn’t really matter. Not cheap but you get what you pay for !!
The ultimate luxury on The Great Barrier Reef
One of Australia’s most luxurious resorts on the northern tip of Hamilton Island, is right on the doorstep of the Great Barrier Reef and the Whitsunday passage with stunning views and meals to die for. But what I love most is that from my home in Sydney I can leave home at 10am and be sitting in the most amazing resort before 1pm. Yoga, beach sun, spa and the best restaurant in the region.
