Disappointing - at best a 3
This review is for a coral sea room - i suspect the "better reviews" are for a different class of room. The bad: very poor renovation job - as someone below alluded, the resort has had a make-over but the rooms are very poor. Patchy walls, poorly painted, old furniture with markings on it, and the bed was very hard. Looked very dated. Room smelt like bleach, and there was hair all over the bathroom (not acceptable for COVID). After a long day, could not be bothered advising the front desk (also took a long time to check in - only one person checking in guests). Opened the window to air the room, but smokers on balcony near us meant we had to the shut the doors. A very very poor start. The pool - for a resort, it was odd to see noone in the pool. That was because the pool was too cold, glad we did not have children with us, as it would not be possible for them to swim. I am unsure why the pool was not heated to a swimming temperature?! The good Breakfast - $19/person to use at breakfast - if you go over you have to pay. Walking distance to town, and the main boardwalk. Will not stay again
My husband and I came here for breakfast and was greeted, well it was not the best greeting, at the front of the restaurant by the lady that seemed to be the lady in charge. No eye contact, it seemed we were a bother to her really. She went through her routine speech she gives everyone and doesn’t give off any warm vibe or welcoming one at that. Our breakfast was beautiful, the waitresses were very friendly. In my experience, it seems there is a lack of professional training of the management in this establishment. The errors and wait times for extra coffee or clearing of tables was clear. This comes from management not adequately training their staff or staffing it property to cope with an establishment as beautiful as this. After reading the other reviews, it also seems management doesn’t see or take any accountability for any of the problems people have. Hence the cold greeting we got. Clearly the customer is not the most important person to the managers, it’s dollars, get their money despite the experience, obviously the owners are the same or oblivious. Hope they can improve this stunning place to dine.
Definitely the best option in Airlie Beach with a few little issues
Booked for 2 nights in a Deluxe Spa room. Little trouble on checkin as was told rooms were not ready until 2 which was fine so we went and had lunch. Returned at 2 on the dot and was given room 121. Went to the room and found it was ground floor with only a slight view of the water and the restaurant and a wedding right beside the balcony. No privacy at all when using the balcony spa. Went back to reception and was told the hotel was full and everyone had already checked into their rooms even though it was only 2:05 at this time. Eventually we were given room 127 which had great views but was looked over by the standard oceanview wing of the hotel so pretty awkward using the spa with everyone on their balconies watching. Rooms have been nicely updated but beds are very firm. Loved the pool area with amazing service and great food including breakfast. Spent most of our time there during our stay. Overall we would stay again but would be requesting one of the ocean facing rooms that are advertised online as they are not all the same and when paying over $250 a night you do expect privacy and a full ocean view as per the pictures
Arrived for a week during August of 2020. Everything has been absolutely amazing. The room was beautifully appointed and the view to die for. Staff super friendly and very helpful. Food was so fresh and delicious and the presentation was so beautiful. I have not been able to fault my stay. I will be back and highly recommend to anyone considering visiting. What a brilliant week we have enjoyed. Thank you to all at the Coral Sea!!
I’ve travelled to many hotels and this one has been my favourite! The views and location are absolutely breathtaking, the rooms are clean and classy. The staff are wonderful and kind!!! The restaurant is a 10/10 with the most incredible food and amazing presentation. I couldn’t be happier with my stay at Coral Sea Resort! I’ll be coming back ASAP!!!
