Fantastic hotel excellent location
Booked last minute as we had travelled to Brisbane and wanted to take in the Whitsunday islands We original only booked 3 nights and was amazed when we arrived and saw our room with beautiful views of the sea - after our first night we knew we wanted to stay longer so we asked the receptionist if we could tag on a few mire days This was no problem to them and they arranged everything so we could stay in the same room Continental breakfast was included and was just enough Hotel is located at the end of Airlie village close enough to walk into yet away from all the bars Beautiful place would highly recommend
This Will be 5 Star When the Bedrooms are Upgraded
My wife and I stayed at this hotel for two separate nights in February 2020 before and after a sailing trip around the Whitsundays. The hotel is ideally located away from the hustle and bustle of the centre of Airlie Beach but still within a short 10 minute walk along the new boardwalk linking the town to the hotel and marina. The common areas of the hotel have recently been refurbished to an exceptional standard including the reception area, stairs, lifts, bar, restaurant and pool areas. This we understand is the first phase of a much more comprehensive redevelopment that is ongoing. The rooms on the other hand are in desperate need of a refurbishment. Don’t get me wrong, they are lovely rooms and were reasonably clean and the Ocean View rooms have a fabulous outlook over the pool and bay, however they are all very dated and tired now and in need of modernising. If the rooms are to be upgraded to the same standard as the common areas then future visitors are in for a real treat, but until then, be aware that the rooms are no more than functional. The other matter to be aware of was the fact that in room 242A, the bathroom was completely open to the bedroom and so offering absolutely no privacy whatsoever to the user of the bathroom. This really isn’t a nice feature and needs to be considered in any future refurbishment. A separate toilet cubicle should be considered if the bathroom is to remain open plan like this. We would definitely return but we would probably wait until the rooms are upgraded.
What an amazing place! the recent renovations are spectacular! The pool and bar area are gorgeous! Sitting on the jetty having drinks or lunch was a highlight. Need more shade around the pool for the middle of the day but otherwise can not fault our stay. Ash who checked us in was fabulous and has amazing customer service skills. Rock staff were slow and disinterested in their jobs. Cant wait for the rooms to be upgraded as they were dated but we were in one of the best rooms in the place. The views were to die for! Given my partner was sick most of the time, it was great to be able to sit on the balcony and enjoy the views. Ocean Spa Suite was wonderful Room 222
From the minute we arrived at the hotel we were made to feel very welcome & the staff were extremely helpful, particularly in sorting out local tours for us. Our room was spacious, clean & tidy. The pool area along with the restaurant has marvellous views of the bay. Sunset can be easily viewed from the hotel's jetty. The hotel restaurant is to a high standard however the menu if you staying more than one night is limited; we were there during the low season. The nearby Sorrento bar & restaurant has an informal & offers a varied menu. The hotel is conveniently located for the shops & both marinas.
We really enjoyed our stay here. We had a 2 bedroom apartment (244) which had a dual aspect balcony and a lovely view of the ocean. The hotel is very close to the Marina (from which we did a Zigzag boat trip), the Lagoon (a delightful swimming pool since the sea is off-limits due to the jellyfish) and a strip of restaurants and shops. The reception staff were very welcoming and obliging when we requested additional tea and milk. Our only disappointment was that our stay was only 2 nights rather than more!
