The only thing good was the food
My husband, daughter and I stayed for 3 nights and it was bad the entire time. Room is dated and old, no cooking facilities despite a kitchen, no utensils and minimal cutlery, restaurant overcharged us every time and meals took forever to arrive, other guest were loud throughout the night but the hotel didnt do anything about it, and incredibly overpriced for what you get. Don't be fooled by the "makeover" of a paint job. Service is appalling (except for Bree in the Restaurant) and I would not stay here again.
We had a great stay at this hotel. The staff were friendly, the pool was brilliant and had great views. The hotel is located out from the main strip so is quiet, but close enough to get where you need to. Jilly was very good at organising our tour after the one we booked was cancelled. I would recommend staying at this hotel for a relaxing time. The rooms are dated but the hotel is currently being renovated and the common areas are very modern.
Close to paradise! (with just minor negatives)
Very nicely located hotel on a little peninsula between Airlie center and the marina. Very quiet. Yard looks like paradise. Staff very friendly. Would go there again. I would recommend to pay extra and get a room with ocean view and a hammock. That was fantastic! Just some minor negatives: - the pool/yard is absolutely fantastic and worth to spend all day. However it’s relatively small. During our stay in the off season the hotel was just partly occupied but I wonder how packed it must feel in high season or during an event on site? (They have a ballroom that can be rented for weddings) - mattress of the bed is way too soft, but that’s just my personal opinion. I heard others loved it. - kitchen is ok, doesn’t match the style and quality with hotel though. And paying extra for eggs etc at breakfast is a ridiculous policy for hotel in this price range - music at the pool is mainstream radio-style. More lounge style music would create an even better atmosphere
Disappointing Return Visit
Stayed at the Coral Sea in 2019 and decided on a return visit. There has been a refurbishment to some areas but the restaurant was a disappointment. What had previously been an excellent buffet breakfast is now very poor by previous standards. The evening menu was limited, the portions small and it was overpriced. Probably why there were few patrons. What did not help was that on our second morning, just after breakfast, a photographer arrived to take publicity photos. Immediately the fruit bowl which had contained one apple and one blackened banana, was filled to overflowing. The meagre display of meats and sliced fruit was doubled in size. Then the chef began preparing examples of the evening meal to be photographed. The portions were twice what we had been served the previous day to such an extent he came round the pool area giving away portions of the beef. Yes the location is amazing but come on Coral Sea you can do better!
Lovely venue with average customer service
We recently stayed here for along weekend stay. overall, it was a pleasant stay at this resort. We stayed in “coral view room”, the view from our room was breath taking and we loved how the bath tub was outside in the balcony. On the other hands the service and customer service that they provide were a bit average and some what it was very inconsistent. Up on check in - we got the warm welcome as you expect and everything seemed light and easy. We arrived at the hotel around midday and we knew it was going to be early to check in and we were just happy to have lunch at the restaurant and wait for our room. Not long after that, maybe 30-40mins we got a phone call saying that our room is ready. I walked over to the reception and to sort out our room and pay for the rest of the bills for the room and airport transfers. The person that I was serving me started to add all the bills/fees together and said it was $$ this much and I gave her the go ahead and let’s pay this. I just place my card over the machine and paid, little that I know the amount that was said and the amount that appeared on the machine was different. As I already paid this bill and was wondering why the total amount is different ? The receptionist then said “Oo there’s 1.5% surcharge fee for credit cards payment” I understand that there’s this type off fee but I was feeling a bit ripped off that this wasn’t explained prior to me paying for the bills. I wish that the receptionist could have explained better upon checking in or at least just remind us again about your payment policies. Cocktails - as you do when you are on holidays, you just want to hang by the pool and order food and drinks and relax while you at it. We felt like a Bloody Mary and we asked one of the bar staffs if they have this classic cocktail as this wasn’t on their menu. They had to open the cocktail bible book to actually make this drink for us. I have to give them points for trying, but to tell the truth it was probably the worse Bloody Mary we ever tasted. Breakfast - “full breakfast” We won a auction bid for this holiday and this includes 2 night with full breakfast. Up on check in the receptionist failed to explain about what includes in “full breakfast” is she seemed to also forgot to mention the time breakfast normally is being served. The result of this, we missed 2 days of full breakfast menu and ironically on our last morning, the restaurant manger was kindly enough to explain that we are entitled of the “full breakfast menu” (you can imagine the confused look on our faces, as no one has ever explained this to us) Check out - when were checking out, the receptionist (a different one) has already being informed by the restaurant manger about our situation, that we didn’t get to fully used the “full breakfast menu” for 2 days. I thought the receptionist handled this quiet poorly, as I was explaining to her our experience and her response was “we would have sent those information over via your email booking and also it would have been in your vouchers. The girl that check you in yesterday was only new, she started here last week and she probably wasn’t aware with a lot of stuff” Ps: I have gone back to my emails and there was no mentioned about the inclusive of full breakfast. There was no sincerity with the apology and also if that person was new, she may need to be supervised when taking a check in ? I was definitely shocked and all I wanted to do was to leave this premises as soon as possible. I’m very disappointed with the customer service that was provided and perhaps lack of trainings show the inconsistency within staffs. Despite all these we did have we had such a lovely time holidaying and staying here, the location of the hotel was definitely on the money. We would come back and stay with here again but I hope next time we have a better experience.
