The Spice of Life
What an awesome place. We came for a weekend away and were amazed at the facilities, the roof top bar and The restaurant - well the restaurant Balfour Kitchens deserves its own page for reviews as the food and service were unbelievable both dinner and breakfast - amazing. The closeness to the city is great and lazing the day away was welcome. Thank you Balfour team you made this an amazing escape. Would we recommend this place or comeback - absolutely
Gotta keep coming back !

Spicers Balfour - A luxury 'pet friendly' Hotel
A 'pet friendly' luxury hotel is a rare find, to almost impossible. Should you wish to stay in Brisbane, I can highly recommend the Spicers Balfour Hotel nestled in the fashionable district of New Farm. The 'pet friendly' suite offers you a luxury stay that you don't have to compromise on the quality due to traveling with your pet. Organic Cotton sheets make for a heavenly sleep, whilst the immaculate dog bed coupled with soft and snuggly blanket made our dog feel right at home. If you are a discerning pet owner and looking for a hotel with your pet, Spicers Balfour is the place.
Outstanding small hotel with very good restaurant
I am a retired British restaurateur and hotelier, and cannot return now to my home in England as planned, but Brisbane is a very nice place to be ‘stranded’. My partner and I live in Newstead, a suburb 3 km from Balfour St, New Farm. Recently I noticed that they were offering a very special rate for a suite including breakfast and dinner by room service while the restaurant is closed. It was for 7 nights, prepaid, so I booked it and my partner drove me there. Everything about this property is terrific. The suite was spacious and well appointed, good linen, comfortable bed, large bathroom, and it included a small room with fridge, dining table with comfortable chairs, and desk. Housekeeping standards are very good. Each day I phoned through my choices for dinner from the room service menu, and the meals were delivered by cheerful, attractive staff, the same ones that are at reception during the day. The quality of the food was very good, absolutely no compromise in quality. My partner and another friend joined me for a dinner party one night, no problem. Balfour St is 400 m from Wilson Overlook on the Brisbane River, very convenient for the Brisbane river walk. The Queensland government has announced that restaurants can reopen on Saturday 16 May, and I immediately booked a table for six people for dinner in the restaurant that night. Spicers Balfour St was lockdown in luxury, very highly recommended.
Excellent location and Lovely Hotel
A gorgeous hotel in a lovely area. The staff at Spicers retreats always go above and beyond to give us a wonderful stay. The rooms are immaculate and the decor so inviting. The restaurant is a must!!!
