Get over yourself....It's a low budget 4 star hotel
Our stay didn't start well. The lift to our room on level 20 didn't work. Reception told us they were already aware of this (after we told them). Apparently, the button didn't work in this particular lift. We would have liked to have known before-hand. It was raining the night we stayed and there was major leak in our corridor look-out window (on level 20). This didn't feel us with confidence. The rooms (ours was a king-size with ocean views) were small, a little dated (but you could see they had tried to renovate it). The bed was awesome and the pillows wonderful. The location isn't too bad with about a 20-minute walk to Cavil Ave and only a 10-minute walk to the nearest beach (patrolled). Overall, not really my thing, but nice for a quick (low budget) getaway.
Love love love
This was a great place to stay in the Gold Coast! Super close to the new tram system but far enough away from Surfers Paradise that you can get some peace and quiet when needed. The hotel itself it amazing, the facilities, the room, the food and the staff all blew our expectations out of the water! We will 100% be returning in the future!
QT was outstanding
Enjoyed my stay at QT. Room was very comfortable with a great view. Staff were friendly and professional. QT Gold Coast has excellent facilities, is vey close to the beach and public transport. Mini bar and room snacks are very expensive.
Bad Experience with No Compensation
The photos will depict our beginning at QT Gold Coast. Upon entering the two rooms we had booked as a family with teenagers, both rooms had severe issues. After complaining about the condition of rooms, we were shown other rooms which were the better of a bad bunch. All carpets were stained, air con ducts dirty, cracketed wooden panels, crooked locked fridges not dissimilar to a frat house setting. Ceilings had some water/moisture damage and stains. Curtains stained, metal furniture corroded (why would you choose this in a hotel next to ocean). We were offered a room on the 20th floor (for teens) and one on 14th for us. We spent most of the time looking for another hotel, after organising, slept the night and left immediately that morning. The manager apologised for the conditions and had said she would not pretend to show us anything that wasnt 'better' and we could leave without payment. We had left our credit card details prior - so knew rooms were debited but were to be refunded. We left and went immediately to JW Marriott Resort. I was calm the next day .. Until .... I receive a message from my bank saying the CC was overdrawn! Why, because we were charged double the cost by QT. I returned to QT questioning this and was told that "QT would never over charge me just for the fun of it" and that is was probably the banks fault. Really... a bank would disguise themselves as 'QT' in the description and then take out the similar amounts that were taken out, that same day. Upon saying this in my subsequent email, the response was - We can not offer .. 'better explanation other than... IT or technical error with our terminals communicating'. Are we in 1920's? our terminals these days communicate fine and dont magically take money out by themselves. There is no response that Management can provide here to compensate for the over charge and stress involved in moving Hotels and chasing them down Finally, it comes as to rectify the issue. It was an insult to be told 'we would like the opportunity to do better on your next stay'. JWMarriott greeted us as a 5 star hotel should, 'sorry to hear about your experience', and then sent a bottle and glasses up to our room!
4 star hotel with pretensions
Have stayed at other QT hotels and booked based on prior experiences. That was a mistake. This is a decidedly average hotel and no amount of tarting it up with a few quirky knick knacks can change it. It starts with arrival - no concierge, no guidance and no assistance with bags. The rooms are not sound proof - and we were disturbed by people in the next room who weren’t doing terribly much. And don’t get me started on the constant slamming doors that made the wall of our room shake. The noise from the pool area makes sleeping in and an afternoon nap impossible (the base started at 7am on a Sunday). It might be better up the hotel - we were on level 3. The breakfast buffet is just ok. The waffles and pancakes were cold and inedible. The omelet station is good but its otherwise your basic buffet fare (bacon, wee sausages, eggs, beans, hash browns etc). Juices in a bottle are quirky but none seemed to be fresh squeezed and were overly sweet. Ok at a country motel but a purportedly 5 star hotel buffet? Its not cheep so should have been better. The pool area is tiny, there’s not enough seating and no-one told us you needed to book a pool side cabana. But it didn’t really matter because there was toilet paper or something like that floating in the pool so it was really gross. The location is good - but the same as around 100 other properties on the cost. So look at one of those first.
