Short break at Fraser island
I stayed 2 nights and had 4wd Beauty spots tour. Resort is nice with pools, restaurant and about 1hr treck within fenced area(protected from dingos). It is 5 min walk from the ferry pier and beach, which are great spots to watch sunset. The tour was good with Mark as our driver and tourguide. We even saw whales breaching and had a relaxing time at McKenzie lake. However, due to COVID, it is a simple take away instead of a buffet lunch. Take aways are also available from the restaurant at dinner time. There are couple of negative points: 1. you could hear at 6 am kids in adjacent rooms and 2. It is impossible to get in touch by phone as I tried several days before coming and each time after waiting for 15 min in a queue I gave up. However, they answered the email marked Urgent the following day. My transfer to the island was not well organised as my plane was not met at 12.15 pm and later I was informed that driver will come at 1 pm but ferry departs at 1 pm and the next one is only at 3.30pm, e.g. 2.5hrs of waiting. I was lucky given a lift and making 1 pm ferry. Transfer from the island was well organised. Overall, it was an enjoyable stay.
Unfortunately the room were initially allocated had problems- there was a cockroach in the frypan A switch in the bathroom had been pushed in and you could have been electrocuted. The decor consisted of large walls of mustard yellow and blue paint and the brown velvet lounge had seen better days. After contacting reception who put me through to the night manager, we were offered a room change the next day. After packing up and moving, the next room was clean, well presented and had modern decor. Be warned and check the room on a arrival and request a room change before you unpack. Management was helpful once made aware of the problems and the dangerous wall switch was promptly fixed. Unfortunately as the accommodation has private owners and there seems to be a lack of standardisation despite the same price being charged. Once we had moved we enjoyed the rest of our stay. There are beautiful walks around the resort and scenic drives around the island.
A great getaway family, friends or couples resort ... a piece of paradise you can call your own. Take your own esky and food items and mostly importantly go with a good attutude and enjoy this beautiful island to the max... it is so worth it!
Full Day Beauty Spots Tour
Did full day tour with Murray. Excellent trip to see some important spots. Murray was great and made the trip very informative. I kept on wondering if he was a historian,a biologist or just an ordinary bloak with so much knowledge of Fraser. If you stay at Kingfisher please make sure you book this trip. Comfortable bus, lunch provided. Many stops and photo opportunities, lotsof stories. I will write reviews on otyer aspects of my stay. Cheers Murray! (We were the two on the back seat) Praneet and Myra.
Our experience was magical. All of the sights were breathtaking and we had an amazing time exploring Fraser Island. The accommodation was excellent value for money and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
