Nice, but not excellent
After having travelled extensively in Asia I think I have been ruined for life when it comes to my expectations for a hotel and services. Our weekend stay at the Pan Pacific was nice, but it just ca not be compared to the excellence I have experienced elsewhere for a fraction of the price. And that surprised me, knowing how much hotels are trying to attract customers during this covid-19 period. We had a king room with a river view up on the 16th floor. The view was lovely, although the windows hadn't been cleaned in months. I could hardly get my camera to focus through the dirty glass. The bed was very comfortable, but when I went looking for a powerpoint behind the bed I noticed that the floor under the bed was thick with dust. That's simply inexcusable. The bed was on wheels and it's quite easy to roll it back for vacuum cleaner access. The TV was great with a massive amount of free movies available. The bathroom was nice (we had a separate shower and a bath). There was an electric kettle and a few sachets of instant coffee. A cheap pod coffee maker would have been a nice touch in a room at our price point. Oh well. We bought a box of instant coffee at the grocery store. We had breakfast included with our Agoda hotel deal. Again, I have been "ruined" by the exceptional service and food experienced elsewhere. Breakfast at the PP was rather "meh" - nothing worth reviewing. With a plethora of employees running around chaotically, it wouldn't be a hard to insist that they check in their diners at least once. But no. The exercise room was well equipped. It was too cold and windy to use the pool. The very tall and young concierge was helpful and friendly. So, potentially, a very nice and classy hotel. But in reality, I would say that it's poorly managed and is failing to live up to its potential. I can't wait for the borders to open and I can enjoy my favourite spots in Asia once more.
People make Places
We are rural based and have literally stayed in hundreds of hotels over the years, both domestic and overseas. This hotel has always shined out as in our best ever top 5! Rooms are lovely, river views are spectacular, food is consistently tasty and servings always generous, but what stands out by far is the staff. They cannot do enough for you...always pleasant and friendly. Special mention of reception staffer ‘Marge’ (my nick name I gave her) and Rohan the concierge who go above and beyond to ensure your stay is memorable.
Never fails to impress
The Pan Pacific is, in my and my husband's opinions, THE best hotel in Perth. We have stayed here on many occasions for one or two nights at a time, and it has never failed to impress us. From the check-in experience , where I am always welcomed back by reception staff, to staff and food in the bar and restaurant and at breakfast, we are treated like old friends and with such care and attention. This time, we missed the club lounge due to COVID restrictions, so we enjoyed some drinks at the Hill St bar. We were warmly welcomed by Mina and the other staff in the bar were incredibly friendly and of course provided great service. We particularly enjoyed Uma restaurant, the food was superb, the ambience and decor a delight, and of course, service was exceptional. Breakfast in Uma bar was also excellent. Our room was comfortable and clean, and we had a great view over the river. Don't hesitate to book a stay here, the best value, best quality hotel in Perth!
Fabulous Way to Spend a Thursday Night
Oysters straight off the rocks, ceviche fresh from the ocean, and cold Pinot Gris to compliment! The Thursday night special here is well worth the effort. They’ll validate your in-house parking so you only have to walk across the bridge and Mina is the consummate host. Ask for a banquette table and don’t forget to book for the following Thursday night.
Romantic Get Away
After getting married at the tail end of March when the lockdown was put into full swing, my husband and I obviously had to put off the honeymoon we had spent 6 months planning. After waiting to see what was happening with travel restrictions and the timely return of our flight fares (thank you Qatar) we decided to finally celebrate our wedding weekend properly. I chose the Pan Pacific for a weekend stay-cay/birthday treat/honeymoon all wrapped up in one. Staff were friendly, room was comfy, quiet and very clean, breaky was good and the hotel is conveniently located. We were welcomed with a complimentary drink at the bar which was lovely and set the tone for a very relaxing weekend away. Definitely recommend this hotel, especially for couples getting away for the weekend.
