Not great value
We stayed in the lakeside rooms. Magnificent view over the lake and into the karri trees. Great access to the National Park and short walks. The rooms are fairly large and the king sized bed and pillows were very comfy. There is also a small kitchen. But the resort and rooms are very tied. None of the cupboards worked properly. Any movement next door could be heard in our room. Cheap coffee satchels. No sharp knife. For the $300 odd price tag per night, it needs a bit more attention.
Welcomed by very friendly reception staff after receiving an sms to let us know our 3 bedroom chalet was cleaned and available. A delightfully positioned chalet with two toilets and separate bathroom which made it convenient with 4 adults and 3 teenagers. Comfortable queen size beds and bunk beds in the third bedroom. A very well equipped kitchen and large lounge area. Unfortunately we were not allowed to light the wood fire but it would be a winter bonus. The full length balcony made it a pleasure to feed the birdlife each day. This is a perfect site for peace as there is limited mobile reception and the complimentary wifi is spasmodic. The unit does come with Foxtel TV. Our weather was perfect for canoeing on the lake and we heard of others catching trout. Unfortunately the restaurant was fully booked every night of our 5 night's stay. Obviously there is a need for more eating venues especially during school holidays as Pemberton is a 18km drive for alternatives. With the newly opened caravan park nearby, this makes the need even greater. This is an idyllic location to enjoy the beautiful karri forests and nature. Definitely planning another visit but hope something will be done to improve mobile and wifi reception.
Stayed one week...a total of 2 showers and about half a dozen donga showers tacked on...no mops left in showers...no Toilet paper in one toilet for 2 days..decided to stay 1 day extra..got charged $84 even though average daily rate for my 1 week was $63 per day...pricey for powered site...arrived early on Easter Thursday...we explained this was due to wanting to beat traffic...was not allowed in till 12pm...a bit mean spirited...Karri Valley lake not stocked with trout for a long time...a large group of around 30 to 40 pretty much took over kitchen...kitchen closed got cleaning 3 times a day..duration of cleaning up to 45 mins..totally non secure entry gate...anyone could get in...we booked this around 13 months ago...sites offer zero shade..no fire pits ( I assume no fire permits sought by RAC)...we heard Fontys Pool had them...the parent rooms are palatial...but disproportionately so and entry by code..for my $525 after discount) this was an unexpectedly disappointing stay...we were part of a 16 member family group...fair to say I was disappointed...so many things have to change
Lovely spot to relax and explore Pemberton
Visited in March 2021 from Monday to Thursday. Stayed in one bedroom top floor accommodation overlooking the gorgeous lake. Room clean and amazingly comfy bed. Balcony to relax or feed the amazing birds! Other chalets looked nice for families or larger groups very much reminded me of a smaller version of Centreparcs in Europe. For those camping or in caravans - note you are based on the other side of the road not on the lake side but can walk over. So very impressed with the restaurant - ate there every night and all of the food was top class, the best we have had in WA - ensure you book an experienced thank you to the team at the restaurant, very friendly and excellent sevice. Reception team all appeared to be new, so a bit slow - could do with more people at checking in / out times. Rac site has a small farm, archery and lake activities and the fabulous access to the walk through tree and beedalup falls. We will definitely be back!
Caravan Park at RAC Karri Valley
This is a new park on the opposite side of Vasse Highway to the resort. Being new, trees and grassed areas are not yet fully developed, so not much shade yet. However the caravan bays are spacious with level concrete pads for easy set up. The camp kitchen is the biggest and best equipped that I have seen. Amenities are clean and modern. Be aware that there is no TV coverage (unless with maybe satellite) and wifi is limited. However this is a very peaceful park with lots of emus and kangaroos roaming throughout
