Nice but I think there are better family options
We just got home from a 3 night stay in bunker bay. This was our second stay and although the location is stunning, we likely won’t return. Upon arriving you will be blown away by the views of the sea and the impressive sweep of the infinity pool. The location, breakfast, general service, grounds, pool, proximity to the beach and dining area are all lovely. Where we had issues are listed as follows: 1/ we had a possum or something living in our roof space and it never stopped scrabbling and making noise, ALL NIGHT. I mentioned it to reception, and also offered to play them the video recording where you could hear it slamming against the roof space, and was told it was a nature reserve so..tough basically. I’m an animal lover but I found that response for $500 a night disappointing. My kids kept waking up asking what the noise was, which disturbed our rest. 2/ The bathrooms are slightly dating and there is some wear and tear in the rooms. Overall they are very nice, but we found we couldn’t sit outside because there was a lot of duck poo, thick spiderwebs and dust. They also don’t replace your coffee pods daily which I found a little cheap. Only other minor complaints are that we waited 40 minutes for our drinks to arrive at dinner, kids menu isn’t a kids menu (salad came covered in thick balsamic glaze and the chicken was a marinated thigh, we saw some other kids on the table beside us refusing to eat because their pasta came covered in Parmesan cheese - just make it eaiser on us all and stick seasonings on the side for the kids) Also we asked for a golf buggy to help us ferry our heavy cases up the steep hill and reception didn’t pick up our call despite multiple tries throughout the morning. These things seem trivial but with a toddler and many bags and the high price tag they ask for the rooms, I can afford to nit pick. If you are considering a visit I would recommend it overall, especially if you don’t have kids. For families I don’t think it’s worth the hefty price tag and will be staying elsewhere next time.
Luxurious cabin suite in a bush setting next to a lake. Difficult to get to sleep due to noise of frogs and other insects next to the lake. Lots of walking from cabin to main building with superb restaurant.
Over rated and disappointed
We found our four night stay at the resort was quite disappointing. Being a five star resort, my husband and I were expecting it to be at a higher standard. 1. Staff was great 2. Room was good, but the towels were not replenished on one occasion so we called housekeeping to give us clean towels. 3. The hot buffet breakfast was actually cold. Not much of a variety, chia seeds bowl of something was tasteless, watermelon tasteless, coffee not very good at all so my husband and I chose to pay $5 each to have them make us a coffee. 4. I thought I’d have some me time so I called vie spa to book myself in to have a body massage but was told it was fully booked. When I mentioned it to my husband two minutes later he decided to give them a call, and just like that there was availability for me. I had the massage which was very nice. I was offered a complimentary glass of champagne. When I went to take a sip, the glass had a lip print on it so Obviously the glass wasn’t washed prior. Given the circumstances of COVID 19, I cannot believe this had happened. We will not be returning
Luxury and convenience
Fabulous resort so close to Dunsborough and all it's attractions. Very well appointed rooms and great restaurant. We stayed 2 nights for a birthday celebration and it was lovely. We also enjoyed a spa massage treatment - an indulgence but so very relaxing.
This is a great location with very good accommodation around the lake. The staff are outstanding always very friendly. The only issue and we have raised this before is the car park is very dark at night. The lighting is very poor and a bit of a safety hazard particularly for the elderly and despite raising the matter directly with the GM last year nothing has been done about it.
