What more could I want?
Tucked away in the West Australian bush and adjacent to vineyards famous for its wine, lies an intimate Lodge full of comfort and “joie de vivre”. It is an extraordinary place because of its setting. The people who work here are warm and caring, but at the same time, diligent and ensure that your stay is everything it should be. The restaurant is remarkable. The food is outstanding. The attention to detail in its presentation augurs the subtlety of the exquisite balance of flavors in the food itself. Everything is as fresh as can be. On the tables and scattered around the property are bowls of fresh native flowers from the bush, lovingly arranged by expert hands. Walks around the bush at this time of year are more than a reward for effort. There are an amazing collection of birds from, the blue wrens zipping through the shrubs, to the crows and kookaburras who carp overhead. We have loved staying here and will come again
Great base for Margaret River. Glad we visited!
Cape Lodge is a lovely oasis of calm. A great place to relax, with a nice pool and lovely walks nearby (especially the Coast to Coast). Our room was very large - with a well-equipped bathroom, a sitting area and a lovely large King bed. There was also a fridge and a TV. The breakfast is a real highlight. There is "cooked to order", together with a fantastic array of fruit, yoghurt, baked goods, etc. There is "tea and cake" mid afternoon, then one free drink from 5-6. (We were asked if we would like a second glass of wine - and were surprised to see that this had been charged to our rooms). As another reviewer noted, the pricing is "variable". However, it cannot be cheap to run such a lovely place - so if the price is acceptable, then go ahead and book. I do not think that you will regret it!
Myself and my partner stayed here for 4 nights in January, and it was just fabulous! Can not recommend it enough, there was a small private concert on at the lake when we were there which we thoroughly enjoyed. Food was amazing as were all the staff. Be sure to book a treatment if you can because they are so well worth it. We had a view over the lake and it was so lovely waking up to it every morning. The pool is lovely and has a drinks bar too. We used the tennis court once, equipment is just borrowed from reception. They have a drawing room in the main lodge and afternoon tea/coffee is served daily along with a freshly baked cake, there are also daily papers and you can borrow books to read which I thought was great. Really enjoyed the few days away here would highly recommend!
Luxury hotel in beautiful location
First class accommodation in luxury hotel. The room was beautiful overlooking the lake. Shower was excellent, as was jacuzzi bath if you prefer. Extremely comfortable bed. First class breakfast, Australian dishes. Would return asap!!
Lovely place but be aware
We had three nights in this delightful and very tranquil part of Margaret River. Good location from which to explore the region Food was good as was service but be aware of their strange room rate system. Some nights invariably are charged at more than others on a daily basis. This we were told was part of their “dynamic” charging system whereby they charged $100 extra when occupancy reached a certain level. We found the Lodge under occupied so felt that these extra charges were unnecessary resulting in some days not representing such good value for money. A pity because otherwise we thoroughly enjoyed our stay but moved on in search of a more stable pricing system
