Stunning natural Kimberley beauty
Amazing wilderness Kimberley experience. The park is stunningly beautiful with natural unspoilt outback scenery. We visited Zebedee Springs, Emma Gorge, Pigeon Hole Lookout and did The Chamberlain Gorge boat trip and Explosion Gorge and Brankos Lookout tours. The rangers have great knowledge of the region and provide entertaining commentary. Finished our trip with a helicopter ride over the gorges. Wow! The Cantina and The Swinging Arm Bar have good food and ice cold drinks. Great fun to visit
El Questro tours & a meal at Emma's is worth doing a few days trips for
Separately, I have written a very negative review about the tented cabin accommodation at Emma Gorge & El Questro's insufficient & unacceptable lack of response to resolve our complaint. However aside from that, there were some positives at El Questro which makes it worth doing a few day trips out there for. Re accommodation though please see my other review before booking at Emma Gorge! Emma Gorge restaurant 'Emma' was exceptional! My partner & I ate there three times & enjoyed the service & meals every time! On our last meal I had the slow cooked steak which I regretted not having earlier! It was incredible! The laksa, the curry & the sweet potato chips were also amazing. The prices are a little high, but not considering the quality of the food in the location, so I believe they are fair. Re tours at El Questro, we did a few. On two of them we had a fantastic tour guide Mick who was a park ranger. On one of our tours an elderly gentleman injured himself, & the care, empathy & patience Mick had towards managing this gentleman & also ensuring he still enjoyed his hike safely was impressive. Mick's enthusiasm towards the outback, nature & his groups is commendable. El Questro is lucky to have such an ambassador. We did three tours, Explosion gorge 4WD & cruise, a sunrise horse ride & a full day El Questro tour which included a half track hike at El Questro Gorge, lunch, Zebedee springs & a cruise. I don't think you can go wrong booking any of the tours, but my advice is to know your limits & read the descriptions of the trails properly so you know what you are getting yourself in for. We loved the more extreme parts of the trails through water, edging around rock ledges etc, but some found it challenging.
Thanks to Elly for making my veggie pizza something to remember. Her Attention to detail and customer service made the difference for our stay.
Staff help was above and beyond.
We loved our Kimberley Safari Tour stop at El Questro, especially Zebedee Springs and picnic at Emma Gorge. Unfortunately my husband fell and had 6'' full thickness skin tear to his forearm. Photo too gruesome to show! The staff and our tour guides did a great job patching it up but it was decided we had to leave the tour and go to the Kununurra Hospital. The Manager, Matthew Bowen, turned a disaster into an amazing adventure. He drove us to hospital, organized some accommodation and a (slightly affordable) charter plane to catch up with with the tour bus the next day!
El Questro Full Day Tour from Kununurra - A must do!
We did the full day tour from Kununurra to El Questro (and back). Tommy picked us up 6.30am from the hotel and was a fantastic guide. We drove into El Questro with a photo stop to look at the Cockburn Ranges - stunning. Then onto Emma Gorge, there were only four of us on the tour so we made good time getting in there and had the pool to ourselves for the first 15 minutes. Emma Gorge was breathtaking, the water was beautiful for swimming, was a highlight of our trip. We then walked back, the morning tea was fantastic, with fruit, pastries and cake available with tea and coffee. We actually paid extra for an iced coffee which was delicious. From there it was off to the Zebedee Thermal Springs, because we were on a tour we had them to ourselves which was just brilliant, the water as expected was beautiful and warm. Great experience. After that we stopped in at the Station and had lunch which was either barramundi, salad and chips or steak, salad and chips, delicious. You could buy alcohol or drinks at the bar which was a nice touch. From there we were driven to Chamberlain Gorge and took the cruise which had fruit, sparkling wine and juice at the halfway point. The Gorge was beautiful, saw one croc, rock wallaby, the archer fish were fun too. We were then driven back to Kununurra a long brilliant day. Tommy was just outstanding.
