We recently stayed at the camping ground at RAC Monkey Mia. The resort has recently undergone a major refurbishment and the facilities are excellent. There are two swimming pools, a tennis court and games room as well as great BBQ and camp kitchen facilities. The bathrooms are of a very high standard. The resort also has a shop, restaurant and bar, and is situated right on the beach, with easy access to the dolphin interaction experience. My only criticism is that the camping sites are a little barren (no grass or trees) - feels a little like camping in a car park. Be aware that there is a daily charge that has to be paid to the Monkey Mia Visitor Centre that is not included in the accommodation charges ($15 per adult and $5 per child per day). Even if you have a National Parks pass you still have to pay - there is a holiday pass which makes sense for 2 or more days (refer photo for charges).
Could be better
Stayed for 4 nights, superior beach cabin lovely with great view, i felt other aspects let it down, certain accommodation very tired, tennis court is an embarrassment and litter in and around beach could be better. The pool area was ok, 15 sunloungers in total is a poor effort. The resort has a lot of backpacker accommodation, not sure how family friendly it would be during non covid times? As for dolphin feed, don't bother, we had them swim up to us during day on numerous occasions. This place needs money spending on it, feel it currently relies on dolphins and location to draw people in.
So much to see and do. Bloody hot though. Staff were awesome food was great with big portions so value for money. It is what you make it really expect to explore. They’ve got lots of canoes SUP’s and little floating 4 seater things. Pints are cold and massive lol.. My wife and I will be back with our 5 kids. They’d love it like we did🤙🏻
Don't go day trip to see the dolphins, was unable to get photo or feed as they choose only 2-3 families to feed the dolphins, very disappointed and not worth the fees paid they should rethink this. If you want to experience it all you'll have to stay a few days. Fantastic upgraded resort facilities, pristine beach swimming and you'll be able to swim near the dolphins. Caravan park has no shade on tents and very hot spend your time in the water or pool. Would've been great if that was our family in the photo. Would've been happy to pay more for a proper dolphin experience.
Lovely spot but not very good value
Paid $150 for 2 nights stay on powered site; we expected to pay a bit more for the facilities ie resort poor bar etc Unfortunately we found that the pools were very crowded, same for the bar - there were no seats and not enough shade. The Worst experience however was the power tripping - it tripped constantly (over 20 times a day) over the two day’s. We were unable to leave our young pup inside the van for any length of time as power was too unreliable. A real shame, hope they get the power issue rectified.
