Very disappointed with this Hotel after hearing all the hype. We attended Monkey Mia for a friends wedding which was absolutely fabulous and we could not fault the food and service at the Boughshed restaurant. Great location. On arrival at our room there was no TV reception. We were advised that they were working on it and maybe tomorrow it would be fixed. The day of the wedding the power kept going on and off all day. No access to the pool near our room as there was a fault. Room cleaned on 2nd day but sheets not changed. We could tell because sheets had a small stain and it was still there after the clean. Sliding door could not be locked to room. Rooms were comfortable. Could not get a snack at the Boughshed restaurant as we did not have a reservation. Went to the Monkey bar and because the power was out could not order any food. Eventually the power came back on and we could get food. For what we paid I can not recommend this place. Beautiful location but the power interruptions ruined it for us. There was no information in the room or even a number to contact reception. If I was ever to return maybe I would bring a caravan.
Well what can I say this place was absolute paradise. We stayed in the garden view family room. Lovely comfy queen size bed with x1 single bed. The ensuite facility was ok, lovely and clean and the rooms are serviced daily which is great. Average kitchen facility in the cabin but there are 2 restaurants on site so you don’t even need to leave the resort if you don’t want too. The resort itself is lovely. The pool area was great and the general store has everything you could need from food to gifts. The restaurant was lovely, the food was yummy, first night 2 of our meals were missed and the lovely manager ensured we were not charged.. how’s that for great customer service. The breakfast menu was also delicious. How amazing waking up to the dolphins in the bay. So much to see and do. You can hire SUP boards and Kayaks and explore the bay too, snorkel and swim what more could you want. We had a very comfortable stay and will definitely stay again.
We stayed on powered site. Fantastic facilities - love the upgraded park. Sites are great, although we went off season so was quiet. I imagine it’s a bit cramped when full. Bathrooms etc are great, including a baby bath which was ideal for our 6 month all. The dolphin feeding was great, and the pools and beach are beautiful. The food in the restaurant is fantastic also - it’s a shame that when we were there the service was pretty slack (struggling to get waitress attention, and then having to ask for things several times (including to pay) despite not being busy). Thankfully the food made it worthwhile so we went back a few times (service never improved). Will definitely be back!
Lost It's Appeal ,Too Big, No control at all of sites after initial booking in.
Being a long term visitor of the old Monkey Mia park, this was our first visit to the new "Resort" It's still the same place but far too big now, no control of sites at all, some sites had maybe 10 people plus boats and cars. Constant moving of boats and cars which had been parked on every available space. It appears no site was complete without 3 gazebos, tents, swags and added detritus. Noisy till early hours by screaming kids or inebriated adults that don't give a toss about others. We got an ensuite site, big mistake as we were in the middle of all the family groups and noise. The middle part of the park was empty ! it's as though they wanted to just crowd everyone in to one area. No shade at all and the white shell grit base just reflects the heat. Monkey Bar only doing drinks, due to power problems, so all food or takeaways had to be ordered from the main restaurant. Some days shop had no bread or milk ! just not good enough for a supposedly 5 star resort. One good point, the iced coffee was good and the food in restaurant good and a fair price, staff, mainly backpackers, were very pleasant. We traveled out of school holidays to be free of kids, but no, it was just like the normal school holiday periods, do all the parents just take the kids out of school whenever now ?
We recently had a two night stay at this resort. Not all the amenities were open, I believe because it was a quiet time of the year to visit. The drive to get there was a tad boring but the stay was well worth it. We enjoyed the visits by the dolphins, the pelicans and also a loggerhead turtle. The resort itself is looking like it needs a spruce up, but the rooms were clean and tidy and the staff all very helpful and friendly.
