Negative at its best
This hotel is well situated in Kakadu National park. The staff are friendly. The restaurant is spacious. The meals and drinks have very nice choices. The standard and presentation of the meals are five star quality. Unfortunately this does not represent the rooms. The hotel is old and dated. Most people would be more than happy with this accommodation, because where it is situated. Unfortunately old and outdated does not mean filthy. Do the cleaning staff know how to clean or is it management that does not supply products. Vinegar, bleach, Domestos all remove mould. A wet rag will easily remove dust. A vacuum cleaner will remove dirt. For the price of this establishment, save your money. The coach would be far more hygienic
Great for a one night stay
Visiting the Top End, you really need to adjust your expectations but I thought this Hotel was great for a one night stay. Good price and located within easy distance to fabulous walks and the best sites Kakadu has on offer. We enjoyed a great meal in the bistro ( barramundi and steak were both delicious). Enjoy the birds who are a little crazy and noisy cockatoos. Also a quick drive to the airport for the scenic flight over Jim Jim Falls and Twin Falls. A wonderful perspective from the air. We then moved onto Cooinda Lodge for two nights which was also terrific.
We stayed here 2 nights. The staff are very accomadating when asking for anything. The food in the restaurant was nice. The front counter personel where happy to give great information. The shopping centre is across from the motel alike the garage as well at the back. My only winge was that the court yard area leading up to the swimming pool area really needs a major maintenance and over haul. There was tree debri every where all over the foot paths. I did see maintenance people on the outside picking up broken tree bits on the surrounds although in side needs work. Our room on the bottom level which I was happy with. Different locations werent open due to the wet season. Although took a trip to yellow water river cruises for the day on the first day and plane flight over kakadu the next day.
Used to be an iconic hotel in its day, now very run down and over priced
This place is in need of a major makeover. We stayed here one week ago in a first floor room which was average but acceptable. When we checked in today we were told we had been given an upgrade to a courtyard room on the ground floor. This was by no means an upgrade. The carpet was threadbare the door would not self close, needed to be pushed closed. The paintwork is tatty and because of the furniture layout the room ends up being smaller. The telephone in the room was not working and the guest wifi was pathetically slow. For nearly $200 per night this place is well overpriced. This will be the last time we stay here. The reception staff were very good and we were offered a room change but once unpacked it was not worth the effort for a one night stay.
Not that great
I stayed here in a superior room for two nights. Upon check in, I questioned reception as to whether it was a superior room, as the rooms on the second floor looked much nicer. He assured me that it was, but I’m not convinced. We had to swap rooms, as the door to the courtyard wouldn’t close completely, and maintenance told me it was fixed, but when I checked, it was gaping open. It seemed that the better rooms were reserved for the large number of Aboriginals staying in the hotel. Took my two young children-7 and 2 for dinner at the restaurant and watched people who entered after us get fed first. I asked twice for our food to be checked on, and we finally got it after 90 minutes- no apology or explanation provided. Not that happy as the 2 year old was practically delirious by the time she was fed, which was not my fault as we were at the restaurant as soon as it opened at 6pm. The only good thing about it was I got a cheap emergency services discount on the room, otherwise I would not have been happy paying the advertised room rate. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
