A big thank you to Judith and her staff for helping to make our post lockdown break such a pleasurable and memorable experience. The accommodation was quiet, peaceful and the interior decoration is elegant and warm. The views from our room were exquisite. Would highly recommend .
Very good service and beautiful settings
Judith hospitality was exceptional.. felt very welcomed and can fully recommend this hotel. Our bedroom room is beautifully prepared and common rooms are very well appointed. Well definitely return when in the area. Liz and Michael
Great waterfront location
This was a lovely bed and breakfast on the waterfront. There are two rooms that are on the ground floor in a separate building so we had requested one of these in advance. The room was quite spacious with a totally separate living space with comfortable sofa and chairs. This room did come with a water kettle so we could make ourselves a cup of tea or coffee without having to go to the main house. The manager greeted us and explained the keys to us so we had totally access to the main house if we wanted to sit on the patio overlooking the water and/or make ourselves a pot of tea or french press coffee. Unfortunately we were out each day so couldn't really enjoy the main house as much as we wanted. We thought the breakfasts were delicious- lots of variety and a choice of a cooked breakfast. As an example, we had omelets with spinach and tomato, side of bacon, rye toast with plum and orange jam, yogurt with granola, fresh fruit of orange, melon, peaches, plums and grapes and a choice of orange or apple juice. Each day, the staff offered to make our pot of tea or french press coffee which was a nice option.
Oh dear, oh dear,oh dear.....
This was to be a holiday highlight, after reading all the on line information. So why was it such a disappointment ? Well, to be blunt, it is not a hotel but a B&B in the most fantastic building and location, but with poor service, even for a B&B. The location and building are amazing, and the rooms are lovely and light and comfortable. There is what should be a lovely garden and verandah. BUT, the place is permanently locked (even when "reception" is open), there is no bar, no tea/coffee facilities in the bedrooms, and you have to make your own tea and coffee from a municipal boiler, even for breakfast. The verandah is crying out for some pot plants, and the rose beds need deadheading and weeding. There is no " service" to speak of, as no one is there except for breakfast or for check in (if you ring the buzzer). To highlight a point: as we returned from lunch at 2.10pm , an Irish couple wanted to check in. The manager (without identifying herself) would not let them in, and told them to go away and come back at 2.30pm. The cooked breakfast was good, but you have to go the aforementioned water boiler for coffee, and the "fresh fruit" on our first day was tinned peaches.. I think they know that the photographs will ensure the booking, and as most people are passing through, why bother........... This is harsh, but so disappointing for what could and should be am amazing hotel.
Great boutique hotel
Fantastic location and a really great welcome which was friendly and informative. Thanks for booking us a table at a popular restaurant. The room was very comfortable, great bathroom too. The main house too was very comfortable and the ability to sit on the veranda watching the harbour with a drink - tea (and proper loose leaf at that) in our case was the icing. We followed the suggestion of a walk around Griffith Island too. Good breakfast to see us on our way
