OK but not exceptional
A bit of a mixed bag as far as city hotels go. Good location with good transport options and plenty of places to eat in close proximity. Studio room was large, fresh and very clean and bed whilst soft was very comfy. Room facilities were a bit strange though. No minibar which I assume is a COVID thing but also no bathrobes (surely these just go to laundry). Kitchenette including hob and microwave but no pans to cook with or even microwaveable bowls. Only one water glass and one teaspoon. Also - and this is the strangest - nowhere to eat. Just bed, desk (right in front of tv) and one lounge chair. Feel as though the small dining table seen in some pictures had been removed?? Also nowhere to charge a phone - it’s 2021 there really is no reason not to have a USB port. And what is with hotels just giving 2 towels for 2 people?? Have these people never showered? What do I do with my wet hair?? Oh and only free to air tv - anything else you pay for. For the price of the hotel this is really not good enough. Pool looked ok but not sure where I could get changed afterwards (which brings me back to the no robes...). So in all an OK break but nothing to bring me back. I do however recommend eating at OMNI Bistro nearby - not cheap but exception food and service.
Fantastic Long stay
Great location, with amazing staff they did everything to make us feel welcome. Plenty of restaurants near by, with great shopping and plenty of Gym options as well, from pilates to a new gym that has opened called R1. We loved the pool with the glass bottom as well. We stayed for 3 weeks. We has a 2 bedroom open plan that was huge and had sufficient kitchen facilities. Loved our stay.
They save me in a time of crisis and went out of their way to help. The staff was funny with a sense of humor and if anything was wrong with the room they were able to come in and fix it very fast. All staff Who I had the pleasure of dealing with my friendly funny great sense of humor and made my state so much more enjoyable
We have stayed at various Art Series hotels and The Olsen is not one we would return to unless really necessary. We arrived before 2-00 pm check and were advised by the officious staff member we had to wait the required 20 minutes but could park our car. For $32 per day you get to park in a very small car park on a first come, first served basis. There are limited spaces which are not helped by the fact some prat had their white Maserati parked in 1 spot the whole time. A further 3 spaces are taken up by surplus luggage trolleys, miscellaneous white goods and general rubbish, this includes a disabled space. Not good enough! Back to check in. We sat and watched younger, and obviously more important people who were checked in prior to 2-00 pm. Nice to see the consistency in the application of policy. The reception staff need a lesson in not being so ageist but they won't have to endure us again. Room was clean and well set out, pity about the rest.
Funky artwork, excellent service, wonderful staff and a very pretty room... what's not to like? We appreciate everything the team did for us, particularly as we haven't run a function since prior to covid. They all put our mind at ease and bent over backwards to make sure we were happy with every aspect of our event. The bed was beautifully comfortable as well, which was bliss after a very busy day.
